Cloud Kubernetes Engineer


Purpose and Objectives

Over the last 15 years, Centrilogic has become a premier global provider of multi-cloud management, cloud-native application development solutions, and strategic end-to-end digital transformation services.

The position of Cloud Kubernetes Engineer is a Senior level technical role within the organization and is an escalation point working on a dedicated team for a key strategic customer. The ideal candidate will collaborate and mentor junior and intermediate technicians. The resource will use their knowledge of the customer environment, knowledge articles, documentation, and effective troubleshooting capabilities to resolve incidents and provide advisory services to the customer. When required, escalation to vendors and effective coordination of resolution with those vendors will be key to the success of the customer. All issue resolution should be well documented for future reference.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work during standard business hours for Mountain Time Zone
  • Available for on call rotation for P1 escalations
  • Work with junior, intermediate and vendors for escalated incidents.
  • Proactive review of environment for incident prevention and environment optimization
  • Participate in the Solution and Architecture review boards with the customer.
  • Assist with Vulnerability remediation requirements.
  • Prompt and detailed communication with customer regarding incident resolution
  • Well documented customer interactions in tickets.
  • Documentation and general administrative duties as assigned.
  • Creation of knowledge articles (KBs) and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to be delivered to intermediate and junior technicians for more efficient incident remediation.
  • Technical thought leadership and partnership with the customer.
  • Time tracking

Primary Technology Responsibilities

  • Subject matter Expert in Azure Kubernetes
  • Experience tuning Azure Monitor for Kubernetes Clusters
  • Experience working with Prometheus to capture and query metrics from Conduct online cluster upgrades including core Kubernetes cluster and associated components.
  • Provide support to application teams with defining Kubernetes manifests/objects and deploy with ArgoCD.
  • Monitor and tune Nginx WAF for false positives.
  • Ensure workloads are distributed properly across regions and zones for high availability.
  • Configure and monitor Persistent Volumes (PV) on Azure NetApp Files.
  • Continually tune and monitor Cluster Autoscalers, Horizontal Pod Autoscalers (HPA), and the Kubernetes Event Driven Autoscaler (KEDA).


Requirements

  • Prior experience working with Windows Nodes on Azure Kubernetes Service with Azure Directory integration.
  • Experience working with GitOps tools on Kubernetes (ie: ArgoCD, FluxCD) with ArgoCD preferred. Experience with Kustomize is also required.
  • Experience working with Service Mesh platforms on Kubernetes (ie: Linkerd, Istio) with Linkerd preferred.
  • Kubernetes, including authoring PromQL for alerts and dashboards.
  • Experience working with Nginx Plus Ingress Controller with Nginx App Protect.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Entra ID integration in Kubernetes. This should include both defining custom roles for Kubernetes access, and the use of AKS Workload Identity/Azure AD Pod Identity for authentication to other Azure resources.
  • Experience with Terraform, Azure Bicep, and Azure DevOps pipelines.
