The HR Specialist serves as the primary expert and administrator for our Paylocity HRIS platform, while managing a full spectrum of HR generalist responsibilities. You will lead onboarding, coordinate payroll, administer benefits, enforce policies, and act as the go-to resource for employees and managers. This collaborative position partners closely with Operations, Finance, and IT teams to deliver seamless HR services that promote employee satisfaction, compliance, and organizational growth. Key Responsibilities Manage the implementation, administration, and ongoing optimization of the Paylocity HRIS platform, including configuration, enhancements, and system upgrades. Train employees and managers on Paylocity modules (payroll, benefits, onboarding, performance, etc.) and serve as the primary point of contact for system support, troubleshooting, and process improvements. Lead new hire onboarding, including pre-employment paperwork, background checks, orientation sessions, and system setup to ensure a smooth and compliant experience. Coordinate bi-weekly payroll preparation and processing in collaboration with Finance and Paylocity, maintaining accurate records for time, PTO, deductions, and pay data. Administer comprehensive employee benefits programs (health, dental, vision, life insurance, retirement plans, etc.) and serve as the key resource for employee inquiries on payroll, benefits, and timekeeping. Support employee offboarding and transition processes. Ensure all HR practices comply with federal, state, and local employment laws (including FMLA, FLSA, EEO, OSHA, ACA, and others). Maintain confidential employee records, prepare data for audits, internal reporting, and regulatory filings (e.g., ACA, EEO-1). Assist with employee relations, providing guidance to managers and team members on HR matters. Contribute to the development, maintenance, and communication of company policies and procedures. Support special HR projects, training programs, employee engagement initiatives, and reporting. Must-Have Qualifications 5+ years of progressive HR experience as a Generalist or similar role, with hands-on involvement in payroll, onboarding, benefits administration, employee support, engagement, employment law compliance, training programs, reporting, and policy/procedure development. Proven expertise with HRIS systems – Paylocity experience is heavily preferred. Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and best practices. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Professional communication skills, both written and verbal, with a customer-service mindset. Comfortable working onsite at least 4 days per week (with Fridays typically remote, though occasional onsite Fridays may be required). Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred). Preferred Qualifications Experience in the services industry (logistics background is a plus but not required). Familiarity with multi-state compliance and payroll processing.
