Role and Facility Information Join our growing neurology team at RIH and help shape neurological care in our region We are a collegial team with a focus on continuous practice improvement and collaboration. By joining our division, you will have the opportunity to take part in a satisfying full‑spectrum neurology practice. Our inpatient care covers general neurology and acute stroke, including thrombolysis. The brand new Gaglardi patient care tower houses a multi‑disciplinary stroke/rehabilitation unit. Hospitalist and internal medicine teams support neurology admissions. We enjoy collegiality with colleagues in Neurosurgery, Vascular surgery, Physical Medicine & Rehab, Cardiology, General Internal Medicine, and Infectious Diseases. We also have strong ties with regional colleagues at Kelowna General Hospital and are developing regional subspecialty care pathways. Outpatient neurology clinics take place in the beautiful new Clinical Services Building. The TIA/stroke clinic runs five days a week and is supported by a full‑time RN and booking clerk. Our EMG lab is state‑of‑the‑art and staffed by an experienced technician. Our EEG lab provides both inpatient and outpatient services. Further outpatient clinic expansion is underway, with plans to add a rapid‑access neurology clinic and further subspecialty neurology clinics. If you are interested in teaching, you can be actively involved with the UBC clerkship and residency programmes, working with medical students, family medicine residents, internal medicine residents, and rotating residents in psychiatry and neurology. Additionally, if you would like to locum while deciding if Kamloops is a fit, we offer an unprecedented all‑inclusive guarantee: $15,000 for a seven‑day locum week – travel and accommodation on top of that. Leadership development opportunities are available through Interior Health’s NAVIG8 Programme. Clinic Details Royal Inland Hospital (RIH), a 273‑bed facility, serves as the primary referral centre for nearly 250,000 individuals within the Thompson‑Cariboo‑Shuswap Health Service Area. As the region’s leading tertiary referral hospital and Level 1 Trauma Centre, RIH manages over 250 major trauma cases and accommodates 72,000 Emergency Department visits each year. The Phil and Jennie Gaglardi Tower, a $417‑million expansion opened in the summer of 2022, has propelled RIH into a new healthcare era, featuring advanced mental health units and surgical services. In 2024, we completed our new post‑anesthetic recovery room and paediatric unit, while revamping the emergency entrance – the department’s full completion is on track for autumn 2026. Further ambitious growth includes a $359‑million cancer centre, set to enrich our cancer care services by 2028.
