As a Recreation Programmer focused on Adult and Older Adult Wellness, you’ll design and deliver engaging programs that inspire residents to stay active, connected, and thriving Key Responsibilities Develop annual program plans ensuring the work areas are set up for future organizational success. Plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate programs and services to ensure community needs are met. Contribute to the strategy of the Active Pass+ monthly membership. Coordinate recruiting, hiring and retention strategies for contract instructors. Schedule, coach and monitor instructors to ensure delivery of quality programs. Manage all aspects of program functioning, including program sales, Intelli/RecOnline systems, and facility operations. Work with marketing to develop marketing tools for programs. Respond to guest inquiries in a timely manner. Manage financial resources associated with procurement and contracts. Promote and cross‑market recreation programs with RPC marketing to ensure maximum participation. Qualifications and Skills Diploma or Degree in Recreation, Business, Physical Education, or related discipline. 3 years of experience in programming/supervisory or leadership capacity. Adult Wellness theory or Recreation Programming experience. AFLCA certification is an asset. Understanding of fitness and program industry standards and best practices. Computer skills including Microsoft Office, Intelligenz software, Oracle and web‑based staff scheduling programs are an asset. Excellent guest service, public relations, and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational, budgeting, leadership and communication skills. Ability to meet annual program and administrative deadlines. Ability to manage expectations of program participants, residents and venues. Conditions of Employment Current Intermediate First Aid/CPR certification required prior to start date. Submission of a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check. Valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s licence. Who We Are Strathcona County is a specialized municipality located in the heart of Alberta.
