The Near North District School Board
invites applications for the following position:
NNDSB Summer Power Learning Camps, Grades 1-6,
Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Coach
July 2 - July 19, 2024
(All programs are based on enrollment numbers to qualify for funding)
The Near North District School Board is looking for SEL Coaches to be part of an exciting summer learning program for children who would benefit from additional assistance developing academic and social emotional learning skills. This half-day program will be offered in all regions of the Board in an in-person delivery model, leveraging School Mental Health Ontario materials to support the implementation of social emotional learning as found in the curriculum.

Preference to region (West, East or North)
Hours of Work: Approximately 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (specific program start and end times to be determined)
Rate of Pay: $35.00 per hour (which includes 4% vacation and 4% statutory holiday pay)
The successful candidate will possess the following:
A two-year post-secondary certificate or diploma in the social services field.
Primary or Junior classroom experience.
Valid Ontario College of Teachers Certificate, enrollment in a B.Ed. program will be considered an asset.
Primary or Junior/Intermediate Qualifications or equivalent will be considered an asset.
Advanced Qualifications in Special Education will be considered an asset.
Required Skills:
Prior experience with the Power Learning Camp program will be considered an asset.
In depth knowledge of executive skills in children, including assessment and intervention.
Demonstrated ability to support task modification, coach executive skills, and facilitate the development of social emotional learning skills.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with other adults.
