Overview Senior Administrator, Research Support – University of Ottawa Job Type: Employee Duration: 6 months (fixed-term) Location: Desmarais Hall, Strategic Initiatives Union: SSUO Salary: SSUO Grade 08 · $64,865.00 - $81,935.00 Hours per week: 35 Posted: 2025/09/04 Position Purpose Contributes to the growth of Telfer’s research enterprise by providing administrative and analytical support to various key stakeholders including the Telfer Health Transformation Exchange (THTEX), the CPA-Canada Accounting and Governance Research Centre (CPA-AGRC), the directors of all the research-based graduate programs and the academic leads of the Areas of Strategic Impact (ASI). What you will do Administers and facilitates the submission process of internal grant applications to improve efficiency; administers Telfer’s research portal for its internal research support program; reviews grant applications to ensure they are complete and ready for submission; provides support for online submission in case of technical difficulties; collates submissions and prepares reports of internal grant applications for review by the Vice-Dean (Research) and the internal review committee. Participates in the development and implementation of internal procedures related to pre- and post-award management of internal and external granting programs to improve their strategic relevance and effectiveness. Supports the Vice Dean (Research), the THTEX lead, the CPA-AGRC lead and the ASI leads in reporting and performance evaluation activities, contributing to strategic planning and decision making about the School’s research enterprise. Plans, organizes and oversees logistics behind research events and initiatives (e.g., research seminars, Telfer Forums, THTEX workshops, CARMA workshops) to enrich the student experience and promote research visibility. Executes the research communication plan by promoting Telfer’s research news and events through appropriate channels, ensuring audiences are informed of developments. Acts as a resource for ASI leads and research groups to advance their aims and increase research activity within Telfer. Oversees expenses of the Research Office, ASIs, THTEX, and CPA-AGRC to maximize effective use of funding. Administers the Dean’s Travel Fund and mobility scholarships for research-based graduate students, ensuring compliance with University regulations and optimizing allocations. Updates Research Office and THTEX website content to provide accurate information to faculty, graduate students, and partners. Assists faculty and students regarding predatory journals and conferences by providing searches and guidance for informed decision-making. Maintains Research Office archives according to University and grant agency policies to ensure compliance and best practices. Undertakes special analytical or organizational projects as requested by the Senior Research Advisor or Vice-Dean (Research) in support of Telfer’s research enterprise. What you will bring Experience in project management, including ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Exposure to web development and content updates using HTML or Web Content Management Systems (e.g., Joomla, Dreamweaver); file management systems such as FileZilla. Strong experience with computerized databases and management systems; proficient with Windows, spreadsheets, word processing, databases, presentations, email, and Internet. Knowledge of university structures, organization, and curricula. Understanding of university research funding and internal programs (asset). Excellent writing and interpersonal skills with a strong commitment to client service and relationship building. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to formulate creative ideas, analyze, evaluate and negotiate details. Familiarity with financial management software. Ability to interpret and implement policies and regulations.
