**Duties and Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Assistant Director, CORIS, the Research Administrator provides administrative support for sponsored research at the University. The incumbent must be able to express him/herself well in written and verbal exchange, work independently, multi-task, and possess excellent organizational skills in order to:

- Administers start up funds: liaises with OVPRI and faculty administrators to ensure that all start up funds are prepared and sent to Research Financial Services for processing in a timely manner.
- Post award administration, including: reports to the tri-agencies (eligibility lists, grants submission lists), etc;
- Administers the inter-institutional transfers: receives requests from researchers or from other university research offices and acts on them, including drawing up the paperwork accurately and obtaining the appropriate signatures in a timely manner, and entering the information in the awards management system;
- Participates in the development, maintenance and administration of the office research management database, including ensuring accurate, complete and up to date records for grants applied for and awarded are kept and opening of research funds when the proper ethics certificates are in place;
- Maintain various office records and files for the CORIS;
- Ensures the accuracy of the collection and compilation of data for all statistical reports, such as the monthly report;
- Generates tri-council statistics on grant competitions, comparisons, and research revenues from the database, when required;
- Partners with other members of the CORIS team to assist facilitators and researchers with the preparation and submission of selected Tri-Council research program opportunities;
- Logistically coordinates information sessions, workshops, webinars related to Tri-Council and other agencies;
- Prepares and distributes pertinent correspondence;
- Perform other duties as required.

**Qualifications**:
**The incumbent must possess the following qualifications**:

- Able to interact appropriately and credibly with researchers, professors and professionals external to the University, dealing with complex matters relating to funding regulations and legislation.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, reading and analytical skills to clearly ascertain the concepts and areas involved in funding research, the preparation of correspondence, newsletters, and organizing seminars and workshops.
- Thorough knowledge of University operating procedures, good administrative skills, sound judgment, tact and ability to deal effectively with people as well as continuing awareness and sensitivity to other cultures.
- Experience working with senior executives
- Ability to work independently, taking initiative, and handle new responsibilities
- Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- High degree of loyalty, discretion, maturity, resourcefulness and tact to deal with a wide spectrum of occupations.

**Education and Experience**:
**The above is normally acquired through the completion of**:

- University degree or the equivalent to three years of post-secondary education.
- 4 to 5 years in a university setting acquiring progressively more responsibility
- Experience should include funding, research, project planning and coordination and database management/maintenance.
