Security and Emergency Program Advisor - Business Continuity Job ID: 6444 | Location: Burnaby, B.C | Employment Type: Full-time | Salary: $85,649 - $100,764 annually Position Summary The Security and Emergency Program Advisor reports to the Manager, Security & Emergency Services and supports the province of B.C. in emergency management and business continuity. The role develops and coordinates corporate risk assessments, business impact analyses, planning workshops, recovery strategies, and provides guidance on new plans aligned with provincial frameworks. The Advisor facilitates training, exercises, and post‑incident evaluations to strengthen organizational resilience. Candidate Profile Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in risk management, emergency management, business continuity management or a related field. Significant experience coordinating business continuity, disaster response, or recovery programs. Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Comprehensive knowledge of business continuity, disaster recovery, and emergency management practices in BC, including BCEMS, risk assessments, and Business Impact Analyses. Understanding of Commission safety, security, and emergency preparedness requirements for housing developments. Proficiency in program development, analysis, and evaluation. Knowledge of building technology and Federal, Provincial, and Municipal codes. Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, organizational, and project coordination skills. Excellent communication, facilitation, conflict resolution, relationship management, and interpersonal skills. Public speaking and presentation skills. Computer proficiency. Ability to coordinate program activities, analyze issues, and make decisions, especially during emergencies. Capacity to build constructive relationships with Commission staff, housing providers, and government agencies. Ownership of tasks and drive to completion. Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities. Team‑oriented and independent work capability. Availability for extended hours during emergencies. Willingness to travel across the province, sometimes on short notice. Valid BC Driver’s License. Criminal Record Check required.
