We are looking for a Senior iOS Engineer based in Canada to join our team. At Bit Complete, you’ll make direct technical contributions to a variety of client projects, often working closely with founders or small technical teams to design, build, and launch impactful mobile apps. Most of our engagements involve one project at a time, and you’ll be expected to lead development efforts with autonomy and ownership. This role is suitable for experienced engineers who are comfortable with ambiguity, capable of designing thoughtful solutions, and enjoy seeing a product come to life from the earliest stages. Projects may include greenfield builds, feature development in existing native apps, or collaborative work with other mobile engineers to improve app performance and maintainability. You’ll be responsible for: Designing and developing impactful mobile software : Lead the implementation of features and entire apps using Swift, and occasionally React Native when appropriate. Whether building a product from 0→1 or supporting a live app, take a user-centered approach to development. Deliver high-quality, maintainable code with a strong sense of ownership, and continuously seek ways to improve user experience and performance. Project ownership and leadership : Help shape product and technical direction in collaboration with clients and teammates. Make architectural decisions, identify trade-offs, and drive delivery of scoped work. Work independently and guide less experienced engineers when needed, helping the team move forward efficiently and thoughtfully. Cross-functional collaboration : Partner with designers, product managers, and fellow engineers to align technical implementation with business needs and user expectations. Communicate clearly: articulate progress, raise risks early, and contribute to a culture of collaboration, feedback, and continuous improvement. Requirements Technical expertise : 6+ years of relevant experience building and shipping mobile apps, with deep fluency in Swift and native iOS development. Experience with React Native is a plus. Confident working with frameworks, API integrations, and App Store processes. Understand how to build elegant interfaces, handle data gracefully, and optimize performance. Product and delivery mindset : Experience with consumer-facing products and collaborating with cross-functional teams to bring ideas to life. Comfortable with uncertainty, capable of breaking down ambiguous requirements, and excited about turning early-stage concepts into usable features. Strong communication skills : As we work remotely, clear and proactive communication is essential. Comfortable discussing trade-offs, collaborating asynchronously, and sharing knowledge with teammates and clients. Leadership and autonomy : Take initiative and be accountable for outcomes.
