The Mission We’re looking for someone who can lead our iOS (UIKit & SwiftUI) and Android (Jetpack Compose) teams while still getting their hands dirty with code. This role is part team leadership, part solution design, part hands-on development. You'll work closely with our architecture team and directly with some of Canada's biggest financial institutions on wealth tech platforms. The setup: Remote-first. Real technical challenges. What You’ll Build & Lead Architect mobile experiences from the ground up —design scalable, performant iOS and Android applications that deliver institutional-grade reliability with consumer-grade polish Own end-to-end mobile delivery for complex features, coordinating across teams and ensuring seamless integration with backend services, payment systems, and third-party platforms Make the hard calls on technology choices, framework updates, and architectural patterns—you’ll evaluate native vs. cross-platform approaches, state management solutions, and emerging mobile technologies Write production code daily in Swift, Kotlin, or your cross-platform framework of choice—this isn't a hands-off role; you'll be building high-performance, battle-tested mobile apps alongside your team Debug the impossible , troubleshooting complex issues across devices, OS versions, and network conditions to deliver flawless user experiences Champion mobile excellence —establish best practices for performance optimization, security, accessibility, and seamless offline functionality Mentor and elevate the engineering team , conducting rigorous code reviews and raising the bar on quality, design patterns, and mobile-specific best practices What You Bring to the Table The Must-Haves 5+ years of mobile development experience —you've shipped apps that real users love and depend on Deep expertise in iOS (UIKit & SwiftUI) or Android (Jetpack Compose) —you know your platform inside-out and can guide teams on both legacy and modern UI approaches Strong architectural thinking —you understand MVVM, Clean Architecture, and know how to structure apps that scale and remain maintainable API integration mastery —you've built apps that communicate seamlessly with RESTful services, handle authentication flows, and manage complex data synchronization Performance obsession —you know how to profile, optimize, and deliver buttery-smooth 60fps experiences Security mindset —you understand mobile security best practices, secure storage, certificate pinning, and what it takes to protect financial data Communication superpowers —you can explain complex technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders and translate business requirements into elegant mobile solutions Team leadership DNA —you collaborate naturally, elevate those around you, and know how to balance speed with quality Self-driven and remote-ready —you thrive with autonomy and know how to stay productive and connected while working remotely The Game-Changers Cross-platform experience with React Native or Flutter—if you can deliver quality across both platforms efficiently, you'll have massive impact Full-stack capabilities —comfort with backend technologies means you can unblock yourself and collaborate more effectively Fintech or regulated industry experience —you understand the unique challenges of building financial applications Startup experience —you've built things from scratch before and understand the unique challenges of early-stage growth Why This Role is Different Most "lead" positions at big companies mean endless meetings, office politics, and mandatory desk time.
