Adecco is currently recruiting for a Archival Officer. This is a 5-month contract opportunity. The opportunity is a On-site role, with the central office in Ottawa, ON. The successful candidate must be eligible for a reliability level security clearance, as well as controlled goods.


The Librarian will have the following responsibilities:

  • Create an inventory of the archives;
  • Replace all boxes that are no longer in working condition;
  • Add labels and barcodes to all our boxes;
  • Create an Excel sheet that will have the physical dimension (oversize material) and the physical location of the boxes;
  • Consolidate boxes – They can see if some boxes have some extra space and if we can combine some to decrease the number of boxes to move;
  • Check the classification of the files to make sure that there is no classified material in our open area shelves;
  • Update files in our database;
  • Help with the digitization effort;
  • Catalogued archival files using archival standards;
  • Any other archival tasks if needed;


The Librarian must meet the following mandatory requirements:

  • Diploma in Library sciences, Office Administration, OR other combination of education and experience, along with demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position
  • Minimum 1 year of knowledge of archival standard (e.g. Rules for Archival Description)
  • Minimum 1 year experience in professional archives
  • Minimum 1 year of knowledge of standards and practices of archival preservation
  • Minimum 1 year Experience using database software for the management of collections
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in detail-oriented task with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
