Senior Mechanical Design Engineer Company: Aversan Inc. Location: Cambridge, ON Job Type: Full Time Working Arrangement: Hybrid Responsibilities Design, develop, and manufacture automated test systems using SolidWorks. Create detailed mechanical design schematics and drawings for components in test and assembly automation equipment following ISO design practices. Select equipment for automated test equipment: motors, gears, shafts, machine vision, pneumatics, hydraulics. Choose manufacturing design concepts, materials, and processes for equipment. Plan systems level design and development conceptualization. Apply engineering principles to system design and development. Use problem solving during early concept, prototype, and production phases. Analyze engineering drawings, identify tools, fixtures, and equipment needed, and perform calculations. Develop and assemble prototypes in early design stages. Support manufacturing, assembly, debugging, and integration. Prepare and present design reviews to stakeholders. Oversee work and mentor other designers. Manage project tasks, documentation, quotes, cost estimates, and resources; communicate to Lead Designer/Project Manager. Travel to customer sites as required. Basic Qualifications Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Minimum of five years of mechanical design experience in custom automation & testing. Strong familiarity with SolidWorks and AutoCAD. Machined and sheet metal design experience is an asset.
