Sr. BIE Manager, Forecasting Analytics

Amazon has the world’s most complex supply chain: we fulfill global demand for hundreds of millions of products at lightning fast delivery speeds. We need your skills to optimize our supply chain, with the end goal of delighting our customers. A core part of the supply chain operations is Demand and Inbound Forecasting: we forecast the demand and arrival of tens of millions of products. The forecasts are used to make many decisions, such as automatically ordering hundreds of millions worth of inventory, deciding where to place that inventory, and establishing labor plans for worldwide warehouses. Key job responsibilities Team Leadership & Development Leadership and development of a team of business intelligence engineers (BIEs), set team priorities, and ensure alignment with organization priorities and goals Facilitate team member growth and career development Continuously improve team capabilities by establishing best practices for analytics delivery and technical knowledge Analytics & Insights Lead projects using data modeling and statistical analysis best practices to create reporting and give insight to the forecast against large, multi‑dimensional datasets from multiple sources Direct the design and implementation of analytics solutions for new product initiatives Ensure quality and consistency of analytical outputs across team deliverables Build tools to analyze large amounts of data that uncover forecasting issues and convey insights which highlight forecast performance and explain variance Oversee the development and maintenance of recurring reporting frameworks Product Development Support Partner with product, science, and engineering teams throughout the development lifecycle to define success metrics and measurement approaches Guide analytics strategy during project entitlement phases Business Partnership Translate complex analytical findings into actionable business recommendations Build and maintain relationships with cross‑functional stakeholders A day in the life Medical, Dental, and Vision Coverage Maternity and Parental Leave Options Paid Time Off (PTO) RRSP About the team We are ASIN Forecasting Analytics Team. We monitor the ASIN demand and inbound inventory forecasts for Amazon businesses worldwide. We report on historical forecast performance, the changes of future forecasts, and the health of future forecasts. We partner with stakeholder teams across supply chain, retail, and operations to assess the future forecast against existing supply conditions. Lastly, we develop intervention models to correct forecasts when defects exist or for scenarios that are not addressed adequately by core models. In addition to forecast accuracy, we help manage forecast volatility. 7+ years of business intelligence and analytics experience 5+ years of delivering results managing a business intelligence or analytics team, including employee development and performance management experience Experience with SQL Experience with ETL Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools Experience with R, Python, Weka, SAS, Matlab or other statistical/machine learning software 4+ years of working with very large data warehousing environment experience 10+ years of data warehouse technical architectures, data modeling, infrastructure components, ETL/ELT and reporting/analytic tools and environments, data structures and hands‑on SQL coding experience Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.
