Please log in to verify your internal candidate status. This position is a term position of 12 months. Location: hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person work at North Campus Edmonton. Reporting to the Director, International and Community Education in the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation, the eLearning Specialist is a project-based position whose main responsibility is the creation of effective online learning tools and courses for the Faculty. The Faculty will use this position to promote and implement online learning tools and courses throughout its programs. Over the course of the term, this position will work with over 20 Faculty and ATS instructors and various staff on course development, evaluation tools and support and promotion of online teaching. The specialist will be required to work in a diverse and complex working environment and have the ability to communicate and gather information effectively and efficiently in a variety of situations. This position will also work on projects directed by the Director of ICE to design specific courses, micro-credentials, and/or professional development work for the Faculty. Responsibilities Develop interactive, engaging online courses (both credit and non-credit) Move face-to-face delivery to online or blended delivery using interactive learning objectives, periodic formative feedback, interactive quizzes and other tools deemed appropriate and proven successful in an online learning environment Ensure that online courses reflect content accurately, are delivered in a pedagogically sound manner and provide appropriate evaluative tools Advise and assist Faculty and staff with evaluating or implementing online teaching tools and related academic technologies Work with instructors to utilize online tools and delivery modes to help alleviate time and resource requirements Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Undergraduate degree or equivalent in instructional design, teaching and learning in higher education, educational technology, training and development, or a related field Demonstrated competency in developing instructional material in various online formats (written, video, other) Demonstrated experience in creating online learning courses Excellent verbal and written communication skills Experience in teaching and leading workshops face-to-face and online Experience with the development of instructional material in the context of professional development in higher education Knowledge and competency in applying instructional design theories, learning theories and concepts of curriculum development Knowledge of tools within learning management systems, popular usage, and functionalities Knowledge about and experience in using educational technologies, in particular multimedia tools The ability to work in a diverse environment, with diverse research areas, and teaching methods Preferred Qualifications Experience at the Post-Secondary level preferred Portfolio or samples of work preferred Preference will be given to candidates who also have expertise in the following areas: Adobe Creative Suite, audio and video editing, mark-up languages such as HTML and CSS Learning Development Tools such as Articulate, Camtasia, Captivat, Presenter, etc. Adobe Connect, E-portfolios, Moodle, eClass, Canvas, Google tools, student response systems Assessment Technologies Mobile learning Application Instructions Click "Apply Now" to submit the following: Resume Cover letter Portfolio or samples of work About Us The University of Alberta acknowledges that we are located on Treaty 6 territory, and respects the histories, languages and cultures of First Nations, Métis, Inuit and all First Peoples of Canada, whose presence continues to enrich our vibrant community.
