Summer Learning Support Facilitator - Continuing Education (Con-Ed) and Alternative Education (Alt Ed) Programs

The Superior-Greenstone District School Board invites applications for Learning Support Facilitators to assist with the Con-Ed Summer Learning Co-op and Alternative Education Programs . This role focuses on providing direct support to educators and students engaged in flexible, non-traditional learning opportunities over the summer.

Position Details

  • Duration: 30 days of programming during the summer months, with a 5-hour daily commitment .
    • 1.25 hours synchronous learning support (minimum).
    • 3.25 hours asynchronous support availability.
      • Time frame subject to review based on student registration and needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Con-Ed and Alt Ed teachers by assisting with student engagement, participation, and supervision during both synchronous and asynchronous learning activities.
  • Provide one-on-one and small-group academic assistance to students completing cooperative or alternative education tasks and assignments.
  • Help students access course materials, navigate learning platforms, and manage their academic responsibilities.
  • Monitor student attendance, progress, and engagement, reporting concerns to the teacher as needed.
  • Work with the teacher to implement accommodations and learning strategies tailored to student needs.
  • Ensure a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment to foster positive learning outcomes.
  • Assist with the preparation and organization of learning materials and program resources.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting youth in educational or community-based programs.
  • Familiarity with online and hybrid learning platforms (e.g., Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams, Brightspace).
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a flexible learning environment.
  • Experience in cooperative education or alternative learning settings is an asset.
  • Current vulnerable sector screening (criminal background check).
