Look no further: VIA HFR is looking for a Manager of Ridership and Revenue Studies and Analytics. The role We are seeking a Manager of Ridership and Revenue Studies and Analytics to support the Director and focus on market assessment studies, market research programs, pricing analysis, forecasting activities, and risk assessment. The selected candidate will coordinate advisor activities, ensuring alignment with our integrated project schedule, and interfaces with various technical teams to support the development of the Authority's Ridership and Revenue Model and a better understanding of the impacts of various train service and customer proposition on the project's objectives.


Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and engage in the execution of market assessment analysis, forecasting activities, fare studies, data collection activities, behavioural research, modelling work and risk assessments.

Contribute to the development and refinement of the Authority's Ridership and Revenue Model, including approach, input assumptions, data, and scenario analysis.

Develop and ensure efficient data management for ridership and revenue activities, maintaining and coordinating third-party data inputs for modelling and forecasting activities.

Collaborate with external advisors and the Private Partner to build, refresh, optimize and finalize revenue and ridership projections, develop what-if scenarios, and business case inputs during the co-development phase.

Conduct due diligence on forecasts and modelling tools and inputs to ensure the technical and conceptual soundness of model dynamics and projections.

Assist in the planning and design of the train service and customer proposition by identifying market opportunities and project requirement specifications to achieve the project's objectives in terms of modal shift, connectivity, affordability and accessibility of the future intercity rail network between Toronto and Quebec City.

Work in collaboration with the technical team to analyze various alignment options.

Prepare briefing notes and memos on ridership and revenue matters to support decision-making process.


Qualifications

  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience leading market research studies, modelling and forecasting activities.
  • BA in economics, statistics, mathematics, engineering, data science or other relevant discipline.
  • Proven track record in developing investment-grade forecasts and modelling tools for infrastructure projects, with a focus on transport sector or other linear projects.
  • Strong data management, analytical and statistical skills using various software.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate highly technical information into simple concepts that support decision-making and project risk management.
  • Experience working with travel demand surveys and mobility data providers.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively with all levels of management, staff, and external partners.
  • Knowledge of railway operators' best practices in passenger forecasting, revenue management strategies, and network planning optimization is desirable.

  • Bilingualism in French and English
  • PMP Certification
