Canada Arlington Partners International Full time

St. Joseph’s Health System (“SJHS”) is one of Canada’s largest and most comprehensive healthcare systems. Since 1852, when the first three Sisters of St. Joseph arrived in Hamilton Harbour to care for those in need, St. Joseph’s Health System has always been grounded in a mission of compassionate, high-quality care for the communities they serve. A national leader in creating integrated models of care and powered by Unstoppable Compassion , SJHS members include St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton, St. Joseph’s Home Care, St. Joseph’s Villa Dundas (including Margaret’s Place Hospice), St. Joseph’s Lifecare Centre Brantford (including Stedman Community Hospice), St. Joseph’s Health Centre Guelph, and St. Mary’s Health. With a mission of Unstoppable Compassion, SJHS’s vision as a leading Catholic healthcare organization is to serve all people with compassion, deliver exceptional, innovative care and relentlessly pursue solutions for a better tomorrow. Embedded within their mission and vision are SJHS’s values of dignity, respect, service, responsibility, justice and discovery. SJHS is a well-recognized leader for innovation in models of patient centred integrated care at each stage of the patient experience. With 762 hospital beds, 400 mental health beds, 870 long-term care beds, 20 hospice beds, 300 housing units, 10,000 physicians and staff, $1.2 billion budget and a $44 million research budget, the St. Joseph’s Health System encompasses five cities, serving a population of over 2 million. SJHS member organizations bring unique strengths and services providing Unstoppable Compassion across the continuum of care, from acute care, long-term care, community care, to rehabilitation, hospice, community outreach and mental health addictions and care. In early October 2025, SJHS launched a shared strategic plan, shared mission, vision, values and a new shared brand, Unstoppable Compassion. An ambitious, shared approach to the next five years of caring for their communities and planning for the health care opportunities and challenges of the future, SJHS’s new mission of Unstoppable Compassion is grounded in the foundation established by the Sisters of St. Joseph – compassionate, innovative care delivered when and where people need it. This new plan has three strategic directions : advance health, amplify impact and invest in teams. This new inspired plan includes a focus on evaluating, expanding and innovating care spaces and related SJHS property assets to determine the highest and best use, including the repurposing, constructing and modernizing of buildings to adhere to modern care and inclusive design standards to meet their shared functional needs and the needs of the future. With a collection of assets inclusive of 75 acres of land available to develop, commercialize and / or repurpose, the opportunity for SJHS and the incoming EVP and Chief Development Officer is to assess and reimagine capital asset utilization by evaluating optimal usage of underutilized real estate, ensuring fiscal responsibility, and mission reinvestment at this exciting time in SJHS’s growth, transformation and continued success. Reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer (“President and CEO”) and as a key member of the SJHS’s Shared Corporate Support Services Executive Leadership Team, the Executive Vice President and Chief Development Officer (“EVP and Chief Development Officer”) will help drive SJHS’s strategic direction, amplify impact through optimizing collective use of assets, services, and teams through an innovative and creative real estate and redevelopment lens. In collaboration with SJHS’s Executive Leadership Team, SJHS’s Board of Directors and other key internal and external stakeholders, the new EVP and Chief Development Officer will play an essential role in ensuring that SJHS maximizes its impact and capacity by leading land assessments, master planning, capital projects and redevelopment, facilities management, environmental sustainability, infrastructure investment and revenue development, among other key objectives. With a strategic, visionary and entrepreneurial mindset as well as an understanding and appreciation of the health care ecosystem and its regulatory and funding parameters, the EVP and Chief Development Officer has 15+ years of demonstrated experience leading ambitious, multi-year infrastructure planning including developing and designing a Master Plan, negotiating and delivering a complex portfolio of design and construction projects from conception to timely completion. A visionary and out of the box thinker, the EVP and Chief Development Officer will have development expertise in the public and private sectors, capital and infrastructure planning, large-scale development and construction project management, government and corporate partnerships, funding and asset innovation and management, energy and environmental stewardship, and will be an effective, collaborative and progressive leader. Influential, inclusive and results-driven, the EVP and Chief Development Officer is also accountable for integrating Redevelopment and for leading Facilities Management and Building and Patient Support Services teams across SJHS. Additionally, the incoming EVP and Chief Development Officer will be pivotal in collaboratively leading, in partnership with the SJHS Board of Directors, its President & CEO and its Shared Corporate Services Executive Leadership Team, a wide range of exciting real estate and redevelopment initiatives and projects to ensure SJHS’s future success and continued meaningful impact for many years to come. This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced leader in this field to make a significant contribution at a pivotal time in St. Joseph’s Health System’s growth and transformation.
