With 762 hospital beds, 400 mental health beds, 870 long‑term care beds, 20 hospice beds, 300 housing units, 10,000 physicians and staff, a $1.2 billion budget and a $44 million research budget, the St. Joseph’s Health System encompasses five cities, serving a population of over 2 million. In early October 2025, SJHS launched a shared strategic plan, shared mission, vision, values and a new shared brand, Unstoppable Compassion . This new plan has three strategic directions: advance health, amplify impact and invest in teams. An exciting opportunity for the incoming EVP and Chief Development Officer is to assess and reimagine capital asset utilisation by evaluating optimal usage of under‑utilised real‑estate, ensuring fiscal responsibility and mission reinvestment. Responsibilities The EVP and Chief Development Officer will help drive SJHS’s strategic direction, amplify impact through optimising collective use of assets, services and teams through an innovative and creative real estate and redevelopment lens. In collaboration with the Executive Leadership Team, Board of Directors and key stakeholders, the new EVP and Chief Development Officer will lead land assessments, master planning, capital projects and redevelopment, facilities management, environmental sustainability, infrastructure investment and revenue development, among other key objectives. Qualifications With a strategic, visionary and entrepreneurial mindset, the EVP and Chief Development Officer must have 15+ years of demonstrated experience leading ambitious, multi‑year infrastructure planning, including developing and designing a Master Plan, negotiating and delivering a complex portfolio of design and construction projects from conception to timely completion. The candidate should possess expertise in public and private sector capital and infrastructure planning, large‑scale development and construction project management, government and corporate partnerships, funding and asset innovation, energy and environmental stewardship, and be an effective, collaborative and progressive leader.
