Overview Senior Water Quality Modeller (Western Canada) role at WSP in Canada. Join our dynamic and expanding team of senior water quality and hydrodynamic modellers, where you will lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects in the mining and natural resource sectors. As a senior professional, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping environmental strategies, mentoring junior staff, and driving innovation in modelling practices across large-scale operations. What you can expect to do here Lead the design, execution, and interpretation of advanced hydrodynamic and water quality models to assess environmental impacts for major mining developments. Provide strategic oversight and technical direction in the development and refinement of modelling tools and frameworks. Guide conceptual model development, data synthesis, and numerical modelling with a focus on scientific rigor and regulatory compliance. Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including geochemists, hydrogeologists, and permitting specialists—to deliver integrated environmental impact assessments. Author and review high-quality technical reports, proposals, and client presentations, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and strategic alignment. Serve as a technical mentor and thought leader, supporting the growth of junior staff and contributing to internal knowledge-sharing initiatives. Represent WSP in client engagements, regulatory consultations, and industry forums, reinforcing our reputation as a global leader in environmental consulting. What you’ll bring to WSP An advanced degree (MSc or PhD preferred) in water quality modelling, environmental engineering, aquatic geochemistry, or a related discipline. 10+ years of progressive experience in hydrodynamic and water quality modelling, with a strong portfolio of mining or large-scale resource projects. Proficiency in industry-standard modelling software (e.g., CE-QUAL-W2, Delft3D, MIKE, WASP, GoldSim, CORMIX), with demonstrated ability to customize and optimize models for complex scenarios. Proven leadership in project management, client relations, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to translate technical insights into actionable strategies for diverse stakeholders. A passion for innovation, sustainability, and mentoring the next generation of environmental professionals. Compensation Salary range (in British Columbia): $102,100- $202,200. The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on factors including education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
