Your area of focus As an Automotive Technician, your primary responsibilities include diagnosing, testing, and repairing vehicle systems to ensure their security and functionality, using specialized tools and diagnostic equipment. You’ll conduct preventative maintenance, inspect critical vehicle components such as brakes, fuel systems, and engines, and repair or replace parts as needed. You’ll also mentor apprentices and maintain a safe and efficient work environment. Daily Responsibilities Perform vehicle repairs and/or maintenance as outlined on the repair order (RO) with efficiency and accuracy, following dealership and OEM standards. Communicate with Parts and Service Advisors to manage production, cycle times, and customer communication. Conduct multi‑point inspections, make repair recommendations, and ensure vehicle safety and reliability before returning to the customer. Document all work on the vehicle RO, creating a story in the repair order, consistent with OEM standards, and ensuring warranty work payment by the manufacturer. Maintain an inventory of common automotive technician tools not typically inventoried by the Service department. Stay current with factory technical bulletins and participate in factory‑sponsored training as required. Provide an exceptional repair experience to drive customer loyalty and department revenue. What Are the Must‑Haves Previous dealership experience. Specialist in transmission breakdown and overhaul. Strong knowledge of various makes and models. Canadian provincial Journeyman Automotive Mechanic Certificate, completed or in process. Red Seal certification considered an asset. Completion of a related post‑secondary program or training courses. Professional demeanor and strong work ethic. Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and organizational skills. Ability to operate electronic diagnostic equipment. Capability to work individually and as part of a team. High level of integrity and work ethic. Valid driver’s licence and clean driving record.
