Senior Project Manager Location: Edmonton, Alberta (Remote) Onsite meetings up to 3–4 times per month Duration: 12 Months Plus 6 months of Possible Extension Role Overview Client is seeking a Senior IT Project Manager to support Government Reorganization (GR) and transition initiatives across ministries. Government Reorganization projects involve changes to organizational structures, programs, services, and leadership assignments, often requiring the coordinated transfer of programs, services, information, systems, and personnel between organizational areas. These initiatives demand careful planning and execution of IMT (Information Management and Technology) changes to ensure continuity, compliance, and minimal operational disruption. The successful candidate will bring extensive experience managing complex IT initiatives, public‑sector transitions, and enterprise‑scale projects, while contributing to the development of standardized processes, clear governance models, and consistent delivery practices across Technology and Innovation stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Project Management & Delivery Coordinate and deliver multiple IT projects from initiation through closure, ensuring scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives are met. Develop and maintain project charters, business cases, project plans, schedules, and supporting documentation. Manage concurrent projects and shared resources using formal project governance and PMO standards. Monitor project progress, risks, issues, dependencies, and interdependencies, taking corrective action as required. Document and report project status against milestones, budget, risks, and resource plans. Stakeholder & Governance Management Work closely with project sponsors, senior leadership, business stakeholders, vendors, and cross‑ministry partners. Facilitate effective project communication, including escalation of risks and issues to sponsors and steering committees. Prepare and present project deliverables and status updates to internal support teams, steering committees, and executive stakeholders. Build and maintain strong peer‑level client relationships to ensure ongoing client satisfaction and successful outcomes. Planning, Analysis & Architecture Alignment Manage projects that document business requirements and design IT solutions aligned with enterprise architecture standards. Assist in developing recommendations related to resource requirements, methodologies, dependencies, and policy implications. Collaborate with business and IT leadership to define clear project objectives, scope, assumptions, benefits, timelines, and budgets. Develop project organization structures with clearly defined roles and responsibilities. Change Management & Continuous Improvement Provide leadership and guidance for change management and communication activities related to restructuring initiatives. Assess project outcomes against stated objectives and identify lessons learned and improvement opportunities. Work within PMO standards and contribute to the definition of new standards where gaps exist. Mandatory Qualifications Education Must meet or exceed approved Project Management education or certification criteria (PM1 equivalent). Required Experience Minimum 6 years defining project scope and goals in collaboration with business stakeholders. Minimum 8 years developing project deliverables such as project charters and business cases. Minimum 8 years managing multiple projects concurrently. Minimum 6 years managing large, complex custom software or IT solution projects. Nice‑to‑Have Qualifications Experience 5+ years conducting impact and risk assessments. 4+ years creating and managing project forecasts using Microsoft Project. 5+ years developing and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships. 2+ years coordinating enterprise‑wide or vendor‑wide IT initiatives. 8+ years leading and facilitating meetings with stakeholders at all organizational levels. 5+ years leading change management and communication planning. 6+ years leading custom software development projects using formal methodologies. 3+ years working in the public sector. 3+ years working on government restructuring or IMT change initiatives. 3+ years in senior leadership roles within the public sector (preferably Canada). #J-18808-Ljbffr
