What you’ll do: As the Director of Engineering, you will be a key member of our leadership team, responsible for building, mentoring, and scaling our technical talent. You will define and execute our engineering roadmap, ensuring it is aligned with our company\'s strategic goals. This role requires you to be both a strategic leader and a tactical problem-solver, with a focus on enabling our engineers to do their best work while delivering a world-class product. Your Responsibilities: Leadership & Mentorship: Lead, manage, and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a culture of high performance, collaboration, and psychological safety. Technical Strategy: Define and execute the engineering roadmap, ensuring our technical architecture supports our long-term business objectives. Hiring & Growth: Own the end-to-end hiring process to attract, recruit, and onboard top-tier engineering talent, with a focus on building a diverse and inclusive team. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product, sales, and operations leadership to ensure technical initiatives are aligned with business priorities and customer needs. Process Improvement: Implement and champion engineering best practices, including CI/CD, code quality standards, and efficient development methodologies. Performance Management: Set clear performance expectations, provide regular feedback, and guide the professional development of your team members. What Will You Bring To This Role: You are a leader with a deep technical background and a passion for people management. You\'ve successfully transitioned from a hands-on developer to a manager, and you understand what it takes to build a high-performing team. You are a strategic thinker who can translate business vision into a technical strategy and a compassionate leader who empowers engineers to achieve great things. 7+ years of experience in software development, with at least 3+ years in an engineering leadership role (e.g., Engineering Manager, Senior Manager, or Director). A proven track record of successfully leading, mentoring, and scaling engineering teams. Solid experience with modern software development methodologies and a strong understanding of distributed systems and microservices architecture. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a high-growth SaaS or scale-up environment. Background in the logistics, API-first, or marketing technology industries. Hands-on experience with our core technologies (Node.js, TypeScript, Rust, or similar). Experience with hiring and onboarding processes in a competitive market.
