Job Summary The Director of Delivery – Engineering oversees the end‑to‑end planning, execution, and delivery of complex, safety‑critical engineered systems within a radioactive environment. This role is accountable for ensuring that custom equipment—ranging from specialized process systems, and tritium‑handling components—is delivered safely, on schedule, on budget, and in full compliance with rigorous regulatory, quality assurance, and operational requirements. The Director provides strategic leadership across engineering, procurement, fabrication, testing, and site delivery activities, ensuring seamless integration with licensed nuclear facilities and project execution frameworks. This opportunity is primarily focused on commercializing the leading‑edge technology to be demonstrated in UNITY‑2 at Chalk River Laboratories, and/or its components in the future. This position reports directly to the Co‑CEO and will require collaboration with Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL), Kyoto Fusioneering (KF) and other international clients, which will regularly involve attending virtual meetings outside of regular business hours. This position may require frequent travel to Japan, US, UK, Germany and other Canadian locations up to 30%. Responsibilities Coordinating with the client and other stakeholders to define and optimize project scope, objectives, and requirements Play a major role in the Business Development activities related to the customer. Develop and implement a comprehensive equipment delivery strategy aligned with organizational goals. Build and mentor a high‑performing team of project managers, engineers, and technical specialists. Establish long‑term roadmap for engineering equipment delivery capability, infrastructure, and processes. Oversee the planning and delivery of multiple concurrent technical equipment projects. Own project governance, risk management, schedule development, and resource allocation. Ensure documentation, configuration control, and change management processes are followed. Drive cross‑functional alignment among engineering, procurement, fabrication, QA/QC, logistics, facilities, and commissioning teams. Provide leadership on design‑for‑delivery considerations, manufacturability, integration, and installation requirements. Ensure equipment meets applicable industry standards (e.g., CSA N‑series, ASME BPVC, RCC‑M, ISO, or equivalent). Guide technical resolution of design, fabrication, testing, and integration challenges in support of licensed operations. Manage relationships with fabrication shops, system integrators, engineering firms, and specialized vendors. Oversee procurement strategies, contract negotiations, technical bid evaluations, and vendor performance. Ensure supply chain resilience and effective escalation pathways for critical‑path components. Own the delivery process from design release through fabrication, testing, packaging, shipment, site preparation, installation, and commissioning support. Implement standardized tools and workflows for equipment tracking, reporting, and milestone verification. Drive continuous improvement, root‑cause analysis, and lessons learned across all delivery cycles. Ensure all delivery activities meet quality assurance, regulatory, and safety requirements. Champion a strong culture of safety and operational discipline. Lead audits, inspections, and readiness reviews. Required Strengths & Competencies Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Nuclear, Chemical, or related discipline); 10+ years’ experience delivering complex, safety‑class or safety‑support engineered equipment in a nuclear or highly regulated industry. Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary technical and project teams. Strong understanding of engineering design, fabrication, test and validation, and commissioning processes. Proven track record managing large‑scale technical projects with significant integration complexity. Experience working with regulated or safety‑critical industries is an asset (e.g., nuclear, aerospace, energy, advanced manufacturing). Exceptional leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder‑management skills. Licensed member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario or eligibility within one (1) year. Strategic and systems thinking Outstanding communication, problem solving, and critical thinking skills. Relevant experience with Engineering Procurement Construction contracts, particularly in nuclear or related industries. The ability to make quick and sound decisions under pressure Experience with first‑of‑a‑kind (FOAK) design in an R&D environment. Familiarity with industry standards and regulations, especially, CSA N285.0, N299, ASME, B51, NBCC, NFCC are desired assets Knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment. Experience with project management tools and software.
