Industrial Engineer – PreCon PreCon Precast is a leading provider of architectural and structural precast concrete solutions located in Woodstock, ON. Job Summary The Industrial Engineer will provide direction to improve the organization’s overall production processes, systems, and procedures, analyzing operations, designing optimal workflows, and ensuring quality standards. This role will be fully engaged in implementing manufacturing processes, automation, and equipment in PreCon’s new production facility. Responsibilities Review production processes, systems, and procedures to promote continuous improvement culture. Recommend and implement continuous improvement programs for production processes and upstream processes. Monitor the market for production and technology innovations and recommend upgrades. Assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring management control systems to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and minimize cost. Assist with continuous improvement of quality control procedures to resolve production quality challenges. Conduct workflow and time studies to optimize production throughput, capacity and personnel requirements. Develop and maintain KPIs related to production quality and efficiency. Help develop and manage process documentation and share production efficiency analyses with operations. Technical Requirements Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering or a related engineering discipline. Strong knowledge of production machinery, processes, automation and standards. Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, 3D Building Information Modeling software such as Tekla Structures, with exposure to MRP software considered an asset. Previous experience or co‑op placement in precast concrete considered a definite asset. Business Requirements Strong critical thinking and problem‑solving skills to drive process optimization and efficiency. Effective project and time management, cost analysis and budgeting to help drive profitability. Technical proficiency with a strong understanding of engineering principles and technical knowledge related to automated and semi‑automated manufacturing. Ability to work independently and within a team environment. Desire to work well in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven, and customer‑focused environment. Cultural Requirements Ability to work productively with a unionized, hourly workforce in a plant environment. Majority of time spent working in a manufacturing facility. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with internal and external stakeholders of diverse backgrounds and disciplines, including various levels of management. Team player with a desire to collaborate and improve existing processes.
