Associate Director of Risk Analytics

Overview Associate Director of Risk Analytics - Credit, Canada role at Mitsubishi HC Capital Canada. The role provides leadership in Credit Planning – the firm’s strategic Risk Management function – and focuses on risk policy and analytics to inform optimized credit policies and manage the risk/reward tradeoff. This position may work on Canadian and American portfolios and can be based at multiple MHCA sites across North America. Responsibilities Manage the Canadian portfolio and, as needed, contribute to American portfolios; collaborate cross-functionally to identify improvement opportunities, source data, create analyses, design solutions, and implement change. Develop complex datasets, extract meaningful insights, deploy predictive models and data‑driven solutions to optimize portfolio performance and manage risk appetite. Train Risk Management and Strategic Planning colleagues on advanced analytical tools to promote broader usage across the enterprise. Provide leadership within the Credit Planning team and participate as a risk ambassador to other teams, articulating risk concerns and guiding projects. Lead and mentor team members, setting vision and expectations for risk management capabilities. Drive adherence to risk policies and governance in collaboration with HQ Credit and other stakeholders. Specific Credit Planning responsibilities include: Buy Boxes/Strike Zones; Credit Scores and score cut-offs; Model Risk Management; Risk-Based Pricing; Setting Maximum Exposure Guidelines / Concentration Limits; Collateral Guidelines and Credit Term analysis; Portfolio Analytics; Loss Forecasting; Automated Decisioning; Approval Processing Metrics; Portfolio Optimization; and interactions with HQ Credit in Tokyo. Qualifications Able to set and maintain objectives, goals, and deliverables for self and group. Strong project management skills; ability to stay in scope and lead a group to a successful outcome. Experience turning data into metrics and actionable analytics. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to interact with executives, managers, and subject matter experts. Technical understanding of database data models, data mining and data segmentation techniques. Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Vision and PowerPoint; ability to build dashboards with tools such as Board; experience with SAP Business Objects, SAS, Python and SQL. Strong analytical and statistical skills with the ability to analyze time series data and produce insights with attention to detail. Ability to work independently, pursue new business development, and collaborate with senior leadership. Outstanding problem-solving skills and ability to quickly identify issues and implement solutions. Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines. Bilingualism (French and English) to serve customers/partners across Canada and the USA. Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; Master’s Degree or PhD preferred (Math, Finance, Economics, Information Management, Statistics). 10 to 12+ years of specific risk management experience.
