Responsibilities Perform structural analysis, seismic qualification and assessment, structural design, and ageing management. Prepare engineering design calculations for structural systems involving steel, reinforced concrete, and masonry, and compile engineering packages. Analyze structural systems and elements using analysis software such as SAP2000, STAAD Pro, and other structural programs. Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations, and ensure the adequacy of design for permits and compliance with approved plans. Accountable for delivering all engineering deliverables/tasks to achieve project objectives within specified timelines and budgets. Provide technical instructions to junior staff or designers to develop engineering documentation. Review and comment on work performed by others to ensure accuracy, completeness, and quality of technical information and design documentation. Check that work performed meets the quality requirements in accordance with company QA programs and manuals. Participate in formal engineering design reviews as may be mandated for design changes in question. Prepare engineering estimates and technical write‑ups for proposals. Perform plant walkdowns as required to support design requirement definition and detailed engineering of design modifications. Qualifications Civil Engineering degree from an accredited university (Master’s degree and above is an asset). Licensed in a professional engineering organization recognized in Canada; preferably registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario. Minimum 12 years of structural analysis and design experience in steel and concrete structures. Preferred: 3 to 5 years of design experience in nuclear power plants. Deep and thorough understanding of structural engineering gained through a combination of design‑office and site experience. Thorough knowledge of Canadian and international codes and standards used in civil/structural engineering. Thorough knowledge of commonly used analysis software such as StaadPro, SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, etc. Experience with static, dynamic, and seismic analysis of structures and foundations. Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment. Travel to client sites is required.
