General Anesthesiologist – Abbotsford Regional Hospital & Cancer Centre We are seeking two full‑time General Anesthesiologists to join our team at Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre (ARHCC). These vacancies have arisen due to planned increases in elective surgical volumes and staffing changes. ARHCC opened in 2008 and is a regional referral centre and level II trauma centre. Our Anesthesiology group includes 15 FTE physicians and covers most surgeries expected in a regional hospital: General Surgery, Obstetrics (≈2,700 births per year), Gynecology, Orthopedics, Plastic Surgery, ENT, Vascular, and Dental. Cardiac, Thoracic and Neurosurgery are not performed. Anesthesiologists will anesthetise pediatric patients aged 4 years and older for elective slates, occasional 2‑4 year‑olds for emergencies, and rarely provide airway assistance for neonatal intubations. Typical operating room schedule: 7‑8 ORs for urgent and elective surgery on weekdays; 5 ORs until 15:00, 1 OR until 17:00, and after‑hours emergency surgery. In addition, 1‑2 out‑of‑OR positions each day for consults, Acute Pain Service, ECT, cardioversions and emergency calls. We also provide anesthesia services 2‑3 days per week to a secondary OR in the Cancer Agency for brachytherapy (prostate and cervix). Location: Abbotsford Regional Hospital & Cancer Centre is in the Fraser Valley, approximately 60 minutes from downtown Vancouver. All qualified candidates, including international medical graduates, are encouraged to apply.
