Job Description Salary range is $77,153 to $133,752, established in terms of relevant educational qualifications and experience. The Department of Academic Development at Algonquin College supports student success by ensuring quality programs and curricula. Through its work with faculty and staff both within the academic area and across the College, the Department promotes and supports the quality and integrity of the curriculum in academic programs and courses; establishes internal and external pathways and partnerships to support student mobility; and supports faculty professional development activities. Further, the Department of Academic Development provides leadership and support throughout the program lifecycle in the development, implementation, evaluation, and modification of programs across the College. Reporting to the Chair, Academic Development, the incumbent works as a member of the Academic Development team that supports program and curriculum development, program evaluation, and program modification activities across the College. The incumbent supports the planning, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum at the program level, across each academic credential offered by the College. Duties and Responsibilities Academic and Curriculum Leadership Guiding and assisting faculty, subject matter experts, and academic administrators as they plan, develop, implement, review, and modify program curriculum. Guiding the development of program proposals in accordance with College and Ministry directives and policies, and in alignment with the Ontario Qualifications Framework or PEQAB Standards and Benchmarks as appropriate. Supporting faculty through curriculum‑related activities within the Program Quality Review (PQR) process and through the implementation of curriculum‑related recommendations from PQR, accreditation/regulatory bodies, or other drivers for curriculum renewal. Supporting faculty through curriculum‑related activities to implement new or revised program standards. Facilitating the development of gap analyses and bridging courses to support degree and program pathways. Contributing curriculum and teaching‑learning expertise to College committees and projects. Program Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement Providing faculty with training and coaching related to program modifications resulting from PQR, Annual Curriculum Reviews (ACR), and/or Ministry program standards. Building institutional capacity in all aspects of curriculum development, modification, review, and implementation through coaching, professional development, and sharing support tools and materials. Providing analytical support for the design and development of training curricula, learning strategies, educational policies, and standards. Academic Collaboration and Partner Engagement Facilitating discussion across delivery sites to support the College’s goals of alignment for multi‑delivery programs. Facilitating discussion with service departments (e.g., Registrar’s Office, Marketing and Recruitment, Library, Facilities, Institutional Planning and Operations, Experiential Learning) to support program development and delivery. Participating in curriculum committees, consultative committees, and departmental/faculty meetings. Being a point of contact for faculty, coordinators, chairs, deans, and other academic administrators within an academic portfolio, modeling the College values of Caring, Learning, Integrity, and Respect. Professional Development and Capacity Building Planning, delivering, and evaluating workshops, courses, and professional development programs related to curriculum for internal or external audiences. Consulting, coaching, and guiding academic staff in relation to a wide range of curriculum issues. Required Qualifications Minimum of a Master’s degree in Education or a related field of study. Minimum three (3) years of teaching experience, or equivalent, preferably in a post‑secondary setting. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in leading and facilitating program and course curriculum development with faculty and subject matter experts. Demonstrated experience in developing curriculum in alignment with the Ontario Qualifications Framework, Framework for Programs of Instruction, Ontario College Quality Assurance Services requirements, and the Postsecondary Education Quality Assessment Board Standards and Benchmarks. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the use of educational technologies. Experience in the development and delivery of hybrid and online curriculum is considered an asset. Demonstrated knowledge of principles and methods for and instruction for educators, and measurement of training effects. Demonstrated experience in facilitating professional development workshops, courses, and/or programs. Demonstrated ability to build rapport and work effectively with a wide range of faculty and staff from different areas, and with varying skills and experience levels related to curriculum design. Demonstrated experience in facilitating difficult conversation, navigating and managing challenging group dynamics, exploring various viewpoints, and building consensus amongst teams. Highly effective communication, presentation, facilitation, planning, and organizational skills. Ability to participate in consultative decision‑making processes. Strong ability to work in a team environment. Demonstrated high level of adaptability and ability to produce results under tight timelines. Sound knowledge of curriculum theory and practice with demonstrated skill working with curriculum in a variety of delivery modes.
