This role has the responsibility to promote Fluor’s competitiveness within the global marketplace by delivering quality services of unmatched value and technical competence. This position supports the Area Lead or Lead on assigned projects or evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques to a medium set of moderately difficult assignments. Develop and review specifications, including design criteria Participate in activities associated with equipment and material procurement, permitting, and subcontracting Perform and check calculations, specify equipment, and solve problems of moderate or complex engineering problems. Should be able to demonstrate basic understanding of structural behavior and design principles. Review vendor equipment documentation within the discipline and from other disciplines for compliance with project requirements, and actively seek discrepancy resolution Apply cost competitive execution techniques to develop the most cost‑effective total project solution for execution of the discipline engineering work Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines Indicate strong technical interests and background with structural engineering subjects such as design of large structural steel and concrete structures including heavy foundations, seismic engineering, and dynamic analysis of structures supporting vibrating equipment. Capable to undertake structural engineering work related to resource project development and construction, in one or more of the following areas: Performing hand and computer calculations for foundations, concrete, and steel structures Analyzing complex structures Wind and seismic loading in structural calculations (structural) Dynamic analysis and design (structural) Computer modeling and analysis (structural) Procurement and construction aspects of engineering Vendor drawing review, intergroup review – squad checking Engineering and fabricator drawing checking Managing and leading a small project Basic Job Requirements Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in engineering field of study and four (4) years of work‑related experience; a recognized professional certification or registration in the applicable field, if required; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job Ability to learn and apply knowledge of local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines Ability to attend to detail and work in a time‑conscious and time‑effective manner Professional registration (preferred) Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards, commercial availability and cost of materials Practical field experience Intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e‑mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programs Other Job Requirements Proficient with structural design software such as RISA‑3D Practical field experience Performing hand and computer calculations for foundations, concrete, and steel structures Analyzing complex structures Wind and seismic loading in structural calculations Dynamic analysis and design Computer modeling and analysis Procurement and construction aspects of engineering Vendor drawing review and intergroup review (squad checking) Engineering and fabricator drawing checking Preferred Qualifications Experince in Mining & Metal project is an asset Fluor Canada rewards hard work, knowledge, and commitment. Compressed work schedule: The Fluor Canada offices work a compressed work schedule offering every second Friday off. Salary is based upon experience. Salary Range: $80,000.00 – $149,000.00 The market rate for the role is typically at the mid‑point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
