Position Summary

Based out of Mississauga, ON, the Director, Strategy & Continuous Improvement is an extension of the President and CEO and is responsible for managing strategic initiatives and special projects and serving as a strategic business partner. The Director, Strategy & Continuous Improvement partners with the CEO and Executive team to execute and track against Crombie’s strategic vision, communicating plans, performance, and opportunities for continuous improvement to the Executive team and other key stakeholders. This role works with leaders to set and manage direction in alignment with business objectives and priorities. The role handles several principal duties, all focused on ensuring time, information, and decision processes are efficient and effective for the CEO.

The Director, Strategy & Continuous Improvement also:

  • Analyzes key internal and external inputs and brings together for review by Excom, CEO, and the Board to contribute to the company’s overall strategy and accelerate business growth.
  • Defines objectives, frameworks, and metrics for the strategic planning process and establishes ownership and timelines for key planning steps.
  • Leads the development and design of multi-year roadmaps to implement key initiatives, drive continuous improvement, and enhance targeted organizational areas.
  • Identifies opportunities for organizational growth and efficiency, implements best practices and fosters a culture of continuous improvement across the organization.
  • Conducts meetings with senior leadership and key stakeholders across the organization to communicate and validate understanding of business goals.
  • Manages and leads the internal planning activities on behalf of the CEO including strategic priorities, KPI tracking, recurring meetings, etc.
  • Supports furthering industry relationships to build Crombie presence alongside the CEO.
  • Develops high-impact presentations, for both external partner audiences and for internal senior level executives and acts as the point of contact for key internal and external platforms and communications.
  • Conducts research (market, demographic, other), compiles and analyzes data, and monitors KPIs to help the CEO make informed, data-driven decisions.
  • Develops governance, process, rigor, and structure to support executive level decision-making on strategic and tactical initiatives.
  • Prepares brief material for the President & CEO for Board, Executive and Leadership meetings, as well as external events as appropriate.
  • Engages across all levels of the organization to create and promote a safe and respectful work environment.
  • Other special projects and tasks as assigned.

The profile we are looking for

Our ideal candidate has a bachelor’s or master’s degree in business or a related discipline with at least 5 years’ experience in management/management consulting related to strategy, long-term priority setting, KPIs, project management, or other related area(s). Experience in a commercial real estate environment is considered an asset. You have extensive experience with strategy development and communication and demonstrated experience in influencing and continuous improvement. Training in Lean Six Sigma is considered an asset.

You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the proven ability to work effectively with all organizational levels to communicate strategy and roadmaps. You pride yourself on your ability to build collaborative working relationships with various stakeholder groups and levels. You are proficient with communications, financial management, governance, and organizational change management. You have the ability to share a vision and gain support while summarizing insights in a way that facilitates decision-making.

A proven critical thinker in complex high stakes analysis, you demonstrate good judgment in handling information that is sensitive, with experience navigating confidential discussions with tact and diplomacy. You are proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and associated suite of tools. Bilingualism is English and French is preferred, but not mandatory.
