What You’ll Be Doing

Reporting to the Managing Director and Head, Simplii Financial, this role will oversee and lead the product management function for the entire Simplii Financial product portfolio: Deposits, Lending, Payments, and Investments. The role is accountable for Simplii’s end-to-end product and service offering, and is a key member of Simplii’s management team helping oversee and align all product delivery activities towards achieving key business objectives.

This role leads and guides the day-to-day product operations and business rhythm of the Simplii product team, and by extension the agile teams and delivery work that occurs across Technology, Operations, Digital, Design and other internal teams. The leader brings a wealth of experience, expertise, and scalable agile methodologies and best practices to support the effective and efficient product development and management. This leader also regularly leverages customer feedback, user behaviour and insights, and other valid data to evolve Simplii’s product and service offering over time.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Product Management - ‘Run-the-business’ product activities including annual product effectiveness planning and execution. Drive business decisions across end-to-end product lifecycle with focus on improve existing product journeys, regulatory/compliance change management. Leverage data and clients insight to make informed product decisions, optimize product features, and drive continuous improvement. Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness of product initiatives and operations. Expertly manage product capacity planning, volume and product scalability while being accountable for product release signoffs.

  • Product Strategy & Business Analysis - Develop and maintain a detailed product roadmap, prioritizing features, and ensuring alignment with business goals and client needs. Own this product roadmap through thoughtful discovery, business cases and prioritization. Create and maintain the annual product backlog and long-term product prioritization roadmap. Develop product positioning & effectively defining and communicating Simplii’s product value proposition. Define & track product-specific goals and metrics and ensures they are aligned to business goals.

  • New Product Development & Product Innovation - Lead and own of all new product & service design improvements, enhancements or efficiencies – aligned with overall business goals. Guide the product development work occurring across all agile pods and delivery teams, ensuring they are well informed on our strategic priorities and the work to ship product features and enhancements to market is done efficiently. Work closely with key partners in CX, Data/Analytics, Growth and other areas to ideate and test new ideas prior to moving into delivery. Conduct post-mortems to gather team member and stakeholder feedback to improve how Simplii delivers products.. Lead and coordinate smooth product release, delivery and support setting technology direction.

  • People Management & Leadership  - Provide leadership and guidance to a team of professionals to ensure individual and business goals are achieved and/or exceeded. This includes attracting, aligning, motivating, and retaining people with competencies to meet present and future business goals in the highly competitive market for talent across online and mobile. Build team and individual capabilities by providing development opportunities such as job shadowing, special projects, and training. 

Who You Are

  • You possess exceptional and extensive product management / product development experience with over 15+ years of experience in product including executive level leadership role as VP Product or Chief Product Officer (CPO). Proven experience managing a product P&L and running a retail banking business including managing and growing day-to-day banking product businesses. Expert knowledge and experience in digital banking strategy and product management, client experience strategy and execution 

  • You can demonstrate deep retail banking experience leading large product teams, new product development and scaling products across core digital and retail banking, deposits, credit cards, unsecured lending, insurance and wealth. Fintech and entrepreneurial experience at the senior executive/founder level is desired with hands on knowledge of launching new retail banking products 0 to 1 and scaling businesses via world class product management and development

  • You have attained a Bachelors in Computer/Software Engineering/Computer Science , coupled with MBA is ideal and preferred

  • You have experience building, launching and managing new retail banking programs such as loyalty, client engagement, subscription/membership and new internet business model: leading business development all the way to product go-to-market to drive growth of all of Simplii’s Deposits and Money-In products. Strong knowledge of financial services, digital strategy, client experience, retail banking industry, applicable regulatory and legislative framework and Simplii’s business processes 

  • You can demonstrate experience developing and communicating multi-year strategic product strategy and roadmaps to Senior Executive Leadership and Board members . Experience developing and managing key strategic product partner relationships such as: payment networks (VISA, Mastercard, Interac), FinTech vendor partners, Card Processors, Big Tech (Microsoft, Google, etc.)
