Heavy Civil Project Manager – Excavation, Roadwork & Site Servicing Project Types: Excavation, Underground Utilities, Roadwork, Site Servicing About the Opportunity Our client, a well-established heavy civil contractor in London, Ontario , is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee a portfolio of excavation, roadwork, and site servicing projects. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in field-driven environments, excels at technical execution, and can manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining full control over schedule, budget, safety, and quality. Key Responsibilities Lead full-cycle project delivery for heavy civil construction projects, including excavation, roadwork, sewer/watermain, storm systems, and site servicing . Develop, track, and maintain project schedules, budgets, change orders, and cost reports. Manage subcontractors, suppliers, site crews, and field operations to ensure safe, efficient work execution. Coordinate engineering, design clarifications, RFIs, shop drawings, and quality inspections. Oversee progress reporting, monthly billings, contract administration, and project documentation. Ensure all work complies with municipal standards, environmental requirements, and project specifications. Lead site meetings with clients, consultants, and stakeholders, providing clear communication and timely issue resolution. Proactively identify risks, schedule conflicts, and cost impacts, implementing corrective strategies as needed. Support and mentor site staff, fostering a culture of teamwork, safety, and high performance. Qualifications 5–10+ years of experience managing heavy civil projects (excavation, roadwork, site servicing). Strong knowledge of underground utilities, site grading, municipal standards, and excavation best practices. Proven experience running projects in the $2M–$20M range (or similar). Proficient in project management software (Bluebeam, MS Project, Procore, Viewpoint, or similar). Strong budgeting, scheduling, and contract administration skills. Excellent communication and leadership abilities; capable of overseeing both office and field operations. Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel between sites in the London region.
