Principal Game Designer Epic Games is looking for a Principal Game Designer to tackle high-level engagement challenges across the Fortnite ecosystem. You will innovate existing systems like Quests and Passes, create new structures, and drive player acquisition and retention over the growing platform. Responsibilities Craft meaningful goals for players that build their experience and mastery of game mechanics while immersing them in the world of Fortnite. Spearhead innovation in engagement design, including systems, progression and rewards, fulfilling key engagement metrics and supporting the broader systematic framework. Communicate and represent a vision for the player experience to multiple teams across the company, including supporting teams of all crafts to optimize engagement. Collaborate with product management and marketing teams to ensure player satisfaction and overall game health while driving growth across the ecosystem and supporting key activations. Drive collaborative and iterative live design, prototype quickly, make changes live soon after, learn from them, and iterate. Qualifications 10+ years of experience shipping game design for multiple titles, particularly in live-service multiplayer environments focusing on engagement content or goal-based progression systems. Demonstrated talent for empathizing with players and deep understanding of player motivations, play styles, and goal-setting effects. Strong interest in Battle Royale and the Fortnite ecosystem, with understanding of what makes them work. Able to react quickly to changing project needs and drive decisions, owning that vision.
