What You'll Do Epic Games is looking for a Senior Game Designer to oversee the development of new islands, experiences, and templates in collaboration with internal stakeholders and external partners. You will work with multidisciplinary teams to design, develop, and implement island experiences, tools, and content to delight players and help us inspire creators working in Fortnite Creative and UEFN. Craft and drive the design vision, documentation, and implementation for multiple island experiences in collaboration with Gameplay Designers, Product Managers, and Design Leadership Collaborate with internal and external teams to drive tools and content development forward, serving as a visionary for overall development and publishing efforts Liaise with external partners to identify the creative direction for their presence in the ecosystem, ensuring that they are kept informed and involved with design decisions Actively participate in big-picture decisions, and work with other designers to focus on the correct elements to achieve inspiring results Broad knowledge spanning multiple areas of Game Design, and ability to confidently engage on a variety of complex topics across design Drive collaborative and iterative prototyping, both paper-based and in-game Attend playtests, provide feedback, and identify practical solutions to problems What We're Looking For 5+ years of experience shipping multiple titles as a Game Designer Passion for and experience designing online games with a wide breadth of game knowledge across genres Demonstrated talent for empathizing with players and a deep understanding of player motivations, forms of play, and the effects of goal setting on play Understanding of and enthusiasm for global popular culture, and ability to empathize with fans of any fandom Understanding of the whole game development process from ideation, pre-production, and production through to shipping the final product Broad knowledge spanning multiple areas of Game Design, able to confidently engage on a variety of complex topics across design Solution-oriented problem solver who can react quickly to changing project needs and drive decisions Exceptional communication skills and the ability to fully own the outcome of a cross-disciplinary team Technical prototyping ability in-engine, preferably Unreal or UEFN. Level design skills are a plus Familiarity and interest in Fortnite and the evolving creator and UGC space within UEFN Benefits & Compensation EPIC JOB + EPIC BENEFITS = EPIC LIFE. Pay Transparency Information: The expected annual base pay range(s) for this position are detailed below. Each base pay range is relevant only for individuals who are residents of or will be expected to work within the specified locale. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors, which include (but aren’t limited to) things such as skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, and experience. In addition to base pay, most employees are eligible to participate in Epic’s generous benefit plans and discretionary incentive programs (subject to the terms of those plans or programs).
