Intermediate Corrosion Engineer

Overview Join to apply for the Intermediate Corrosion Engineer role at Stantec . This is a full-time position with a hybrid work model. Although preferred locations are Edmonton and Calgary, other locations will be considered for the right candidate. Our Cathodic Protection and AC Mitigation teams are part of the Integrity group within the Energy business unit. We design cathodic protection, stray current mitigation, and integrity solutions for energy, municipal, and water resources projects, working with Stantec divisions worldwide. Your Opportunity Join a team of industry experts on projects that advance energy availability, safety, and reliability. You will contribute to a wide range of activities from data collection in the field to design and verification of CP and stray current mitigation systems that meet client, Stantec, and regulatory standards. Responsibilities Support projects dealing with Cathodic Protection (CP), stray current mitigation, and asset integrity assessments Design and evaluation of CP systems and stray current mitigation (field and office) Perform third-party reviews of reports and designs related to corrosion, cathodic protection, and stray current Deliver organized, accurate, timely, and cost-effective integrity services Prepare technical reports, charts, tables, and design reports Develop detailed designs and collaborate with drafting personnel to prepare design drawing packages Perform engineering calculations (resistance, current requirements, current distribution and attenuation, ground potential rise, etc.) Coordinate engineering aspects of installation of AC mitigation and cathodic protection systems Field work may include soil resistivity testing, structure potentials, right-of-way evaluations, and constructability assessments Consult with other team members on projects and contribute to continuous improvement through Stantec specifications, procedures, and standards Be familiar with applicable codes and legislation (AMPP/NACE, CSA, API, PHMSA, DOT, etc.) Liaise with and provide technical assistance to other divisions within the company Establish and maintain positive client relationships Compliance with Stantec’s EH&S program and Quality System, with a focus on safety in the field Capabilities and Credentials Demonstrated technical proficiency Strong interpersonal, communication, analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Demonstrated initiative, flexibility, and adaptability Strong work ethic and self-motivation Excellent computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Excel, Word, and mapping tools (e.g., Google Earth) Class 5 (AB) driver’s license with a clean driving record; some travel may be required Strong technical background in corrosion, CP, interference, and corrosion-related design, field data gathering and troubleshooting AC stray current mitigation experience is a plus Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in an engineering discipline 5 to 10 years of corrosion, CP, and/or stray current mitigation experience, with emphasis on CP Minimum AMPP (NACE) CP2 certification required; CP3 or CP4 is an asset P.Eng. status recognized by APEGA or other Canadian provinces This description is not a comprehensive listing of activities and responsibilities and may be updated at any time with or without notice.
