OverviewJoin to apply for the Intermediate Corrosion Engineer role at Stantec. This is a full-time position with a hybrid work model. Although preferred locations are Edmonton and Calgary, other locations will be considered for the right candidate.Our Cathodic Protection and AC Mitigation teams are part of the Integrity group within the Energy business unit. We design cathodic protection, stray current mitigation, and integrity solutions for energy, municipal, and water resources projects, working with Stantec divisions worldwide.Your OpportunityJoin a team of industry experts on projects that advance energy availability, safety, and reliability. You will contribute to a wide range of activities from data collection in the field to design and verification of CP and stray current mitigation systems that meet client, Stantec, and regulatory standards.ResponsibilitiesSupport projects dealing with Cathodic Protection (CP), stray current mitigation, and asset integrity assessmentsDesign and evaluation of CP systems and stray current mitigation (field and office)Perform third-party reviews of reports and designs related to corrosion, cathodic protection, and stray currentDeliver organized, accurate, timely, and cost-effective integrity servicesPrepare technical reports, charts, tables, and design reportsDevelop detailed designs and collaborate with drafting personnel to prepare design drawing packagesPerform engineering calculations (resistance, current requirements, current distribution and attenuation, ground potential rise, etc.)Coordinate engineering aspects of installation of AC mitigation and cathodic protection systemsField work may include soil resistivity testing, structure potentials, right-of-way evaluations, and constructability assessmentsConsult with other team members on projects and contribute to continuous improvement through Stantec specifications, procedures, and standardsBe familiar with applicable codes and legislation (AMPP/NACE, CSA, API, PHMSA, DOT, etc.)Liaise with and provide technical assistance to other divisions within the companyEstablish and maintain positive client relationshipsCompliance with Stantec’s EH&S program and Quality System, with a focus on safety in the fieldCapabilities and CredentialsDemonstrated technical proficiencyStrong interpersonal, communication, analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamDemonstrated initiative, flexibility, and adaptabilityStrong work ethic and self-motivationExcellent computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Excel, Word, and mapping tools (e.g., Google Earth)Class 5 (AB) driver’s license with a clean driving record; some travel may be requiredStrong technical background in corrosion, CP, interference, and corrosion-related design, field data gathering and troubleshootingAC stray current mitigation experience is a plusEducation and ExperienceBachelor’s degree or technical diploma in an engineering discipline5 to 10 years of corrosion, CP, and/or stray current mitigation experience, with emphasis on CPMinimum AMPP (NACE) CP2 certification required; CP3 or CP4 is an assetP.Eng. status recognized by APEGA or other Canadian provincesThis description is not a comprehensive listing of activities and responsibilities and may be updated at any time with or without notice.Pay Transparency: Pay ranges are provided where required.
