*Overview*

Coastal Care Veterinary Emergency and Referral Hospital is hiring an experienced Registered Veterinary Technician with a passion for surgery and anesthesia to join our surgical team where you will work alongside our board-certified Surgeon. This position requires a driven individual with attention to detail and who is a self- starter and able to work with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate must be computer literate and have solid analytical and medical skills. Critical thinking and problem- solving skills are a must; you must be able to multitask, collaborate and communicate with co-workers efficiently and effectively.

*Technical abilities and skills*
* Induction, management, and recovery of companion animals
* Knowledge of common & emergent medications
* The ability to work in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment.
* The ability to deliver exceptional client & patient service.
* Proficiency with administering intravenous fluids, intramuscular and subcutaneous injections, local and regional blocks.
* Mastery in placement and maintenance of intravenous catheters, CRIs, and calculations.
* Surgical prep and sterile assisting
* Familiarity with instrument and equipment sterilization and maintenance
* Diagnostic imaging
* Knowledge of fluid pumps and fluid setup, including syringe pumps and CRI administration

*Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:*
* Graduate from a licensed Veterinary Technician program
* Completed the VTNE
* In good standing or able to license with provincial licensing boards (NSVMA, EVTA)
* Minimum of 2-3 years in clinical setting.
* Prior experience working within a Specialist Referral Hospital is an asset- however, full internal training will also be provided.
* Able to perform moderately physically demanding work that requires lifting (up to 50 pounds), cleaning, and constant motion.
