Overview Department: Administration/GovernanceEmployment Status: Regular Full-timeClassification/level: Program Supervisor (Salary dependent on Education and Experience) Reporting Relationship The Governance and Treaty Analyst reports to the Enaagdenjged and to the Ogimaa and Council. Position Summary The Analyst will work with, M’Chigeeng First Nation Ogimaa and Council on the planning, development, and implementation of the Strategic Plan. A key responsibility of the Analyst is to monitor the internal and external environment, identify risks and opportunities, develop plans, assist in lobbying and sourcing funding. The Analyst will assist in Treaty and Traditional Governance Research, Community Consultation and Community Information Sessions. Essential Functions The Analyst will work on processes to be instituted within the M’Chigeeng First Nation Administration and Governance including but not limited to: Consultation Processes, Alternative Dispute Models, assist with providing the education system with curriculum to be implemented in local schools, traditional governance models etc. The Analyst will collaborate with all departments under M’Chigeeng First Nation. The Analyst will assist in developing a rights-based approach to community development by sharing and providing treaty- based information and documentation as is relevant to the First Nation’s interests within consultation and accommodation processes. The Analyst shall also assist the Ogimaa and Council with the 1990 Land Claim Settlement, the UCCMM Manitoulin Project, the Lakebed and Islands Claim, the Robinson Huron Annuities Claim, any outstanding specific claims related to M’Chigeeng First Nation and any other initiatives as required and or mandated by Ogimaa and Council. The Analyst shall also assist the Ogimaa and Council with any specific claim related to M’Chigeeng First Nation and any other initiatives as required and or mandated by Ogimaa and Council. Requirements & Qualifications Preferred Master’s Degree in Business, Public Administration, or a related field from an accredited university OR Bachelor’s Degree in Indigenous Studies or a related field from an accredited A general knowledge of the Inherent Right of Anishinaabe People, Crown’s Duty to Consult, and consultative processes or practice A demonstrated knowledge of First Nation issues and governance structures, provincial- territorial organization, land claims and cultural values Innovative leader with high level organization, managerial and analytical skills gained in a strategic/long term planning environment. Minimum A post-secondary degree in either Public Administration, Indigenous Studies, History, Anthropology, Political Science, Environmental Studies, Natural Resources Management, Law. Completion of Grade 12 with a post-secondary diploma in Business Administration or a related field from an accredited community college plus, a minimum of 7 years of experiences in the field of planning and administration and a minimum of 4 years of experience in land claims, historical, natural resource management at a senior management level with responsibilities for corporate administration including preparation of business plans and budgets, budget control, and financial reports Knowledge of the scope and history of Aboriginal and Treaty rights in Canada with focus on treaties that are particular to M’Chigeeng First Nation Research or work experience in the land claim, archival or traditional land use Fluency in Anishinaabemowin and knowledge, understanding and application of Anishinabek language, practice, values and history A valid Driver’s License CRC/VSS Rationale : M’Chigeeng First Nation and its agents are in a position of trust in services to band member children and/or vulnerable adults, so a safe and secure working environment is mandatory. The CRC and VSS must be current (30 days) and must be an Original.
