Our product is used by customers of all sizes and in a variety of industries throughout the US, Canada, Mexico, and Europe. We help customers manage their fleet operations, with real-time tracking and data gathered from vehicles (and sensors) in the field and ingested into our cloud-based platform.We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to join our team and manage the group of Automotive Engineers who fuel the Telematics business unit. This team is responsible for expanding diagnostic coverage to ensure we get accurate, quality data, across the fleet of 10,000+ MMYs (Make Model Years) dealing with various diagnostic protocols, standards, and OEM-specific proprietary information.We primarily work and collaborate closely with firmware engineers, product managers, customer support teams, and full-stack engineers to expand diagnostic coverage. In this role, you will be responsible for roadmap, execution, and innovation within our Vehicle Data Platform group – leveraging data from vehicle systems across Samsara’s 1.2M+ vehicle gateways in the field. In this role, you will:Manage a team of 4-6 Automotive Engineers working on multiple projects that expand diagnostic coverage and add customer value. Provide technical leadership and mentorship in automotive network communication. Develop best practices and guidelines for the Vehicle Gateway to operate as a third-party telematics device inside the vehicle network. Work with leadership on the planning and execution of quarterly roadmaps that balance product and engineering priorities for maximum customer impact. Build a healthy collaborative culture of accountability and continuous improvement while setting a high standard for execution quality. Strong knowledge of vehicle systems and CAN communication. Understands the value of team culture, communication, and collaboration. 5+ years experience in a technology or automotive industry. Ability to work with a geographically dispersed team. An ideal candidate also has:Automotive OEM/Supplier or Telematics provider experience. Familiarity with GIT or related software development program. Demonstrated experience delivering software features, leading teams, and managing engineers. The range of annual base salary for full-time employees for this position is below.
