Overview The Senior Mechanical Engineer (Mill) supports the Chief Mechanical Engineer by developing, implementing and improving the maintenance program. They develop strategies to improve plant reliability and troubleshoot recurring mechanical issues to identify root causes and solutions. They provide technical support to operations, engineering and maintenance teams to achieve production, availability, cost and health and safety targets. If you require support or accommodation, please notify us when you apply. Key Responsibilities Area 1: Develop, implement and ensure compliance with the maintenance program. Originates and develops analysis methods to determine reliability of components, equipment and processes. Acquire and analyze data; prepare diagrams, charts, drawings, calculations and reports to define reliability problems and make recommendations for improvements. Conduct analyses of reliability problems and determine the appropriate reliability approach considering cost, uptime/downtime, repair/replacement costs and material availability. Review maintenance plan modification requests (frequency, task nature, PM/PdM improvements). Develop standard jobs, methods and procedures for maintenance and operation of mechanical equipment. Investigate and analyze root causes of recurring failures (RCA) and propose solutions to eliminate problems. Use CMMS (Oracle eAM) to extract data and analyze problematic components. Supervise and inspect installation, modification and commissioning of mechanical systems. Develop maintenance standards, schedules and programs and provide guidance to maintenance crews. Investigate mechanical failures or unexpected maintenance problems. Prepare contract documents and evaluate tenders for industrial maintenance. Area 2: Manage projects and modifications related to mechanical engineering. Analyze management of change requests to determine value based on facts. Lead the management of change process from request to implementation. Supervise and inspect installation and operation of new modifications. Design, modify and validate mechanical drawings and plans. Coordinate projects with departments and contractors. Prepare feasibility studies, cost estimates and design specifications. Ensure quality and revision of drawings and technical documentation of mechanical equipment. Ensure compliance with mechanical standards, laws and codes. Provide expert on-site advice on mechanical procedures and practices related to maintenance. Area 3: Technically support operations, engineering and maintenance teams. Analyze maintainability problems and determine outages with cost considerations. Determine cost advantages of alternatives and develop action plans for timely repairs. Participate in maintenance projects and business improvement initiatives. Provide technical expertise, support and training to junior engineers. Act as a technical advisor for internal and external requests. Write reports and prepare technical documents to support decision-making. Develop and review procedures and training for equipment repair. Area 4: Collaborate to deliver continuous improvement opportunities. Seek and implement best-in-class practices. Propose new methods to meet mechanical engineering challenges. Identify training and development opportunities for the team. Keep abreast of engineering trends and share with Côté Gold. Provide new approaches, methods or policies to optimize performance and ensure compliance with regulations and standards. Continuously improve technical knowledge and skills. Conduct research and benchmarking to support decision-making and improvement of mechanical processes and technologies. Qualifications Minimum Requirements and Nice To Haves Post-secondary degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is required. Registration (or eligibility to register) as an Engineer in Ontario (PEO). A minimum of 8 years of related work experience. Previous experience in open pit mining or mineral processing (gold processing) is an asset. Knowledge of reliability best practices. Proficiency with computer applications and maintenance software. Ability to communicate effectively and work independently or in a team; work well under pressure. Strong observational and analytical skills; highly organized; strategic thinker with rigor; effective change agent and team player.
