Manager, Construction Application Deadline: 6 February 2026 Department: Site Management Employment Type: Full Time Location: Rook I Site Reporting To: Director, Construction Description The Construction Manager is NexGen's senior on-site representative for the ROOK I project, responsible for coordinating all construction activities including responsibility for being the prime contractor. Reporting to the Director of Construction, this role ensures construction is executed professionally, safely, and in alignment with project plans and corporate policies. The Construction Manager drives timely and on-budget and on schedule completion, manages health, safety, and environmental performance, and maintains quality standards. Key duties include overseeing contractors, preparing reports, facilitating meetings, and promoting collaboration across teams. Strong leadership, clear communication, and the capacity to resolve challenges are essential for success in this dynamic environment. A key aspect of the role will be to provide visible leadership to contractors and team members by spending the majority of your time in the field. Key Responsibilities (including but not limited to): Serve as the senior on-site representative. Maintain a high standard of health, safety, and environmental performance. Lead site preparation and construction, coordinating activities to ensure the project is executed professionally and aligns with corporate policies, internal controls, and procedures. Drive the project to successful construction completion within the agreed timeline, budget, and scope. Monitor construction activities to ensure they adhere to the design and specifications. Manage health and safety for all on-site activities, applying environmental controls to mitigate risks and achieve project goals. Conduct daily safety meetings and site inspections. Analyze conflicts or challenges, negotiate resolutions, prioritize tasks, and make timely decisions to protect the schedule and budget. Participate in planning and scheduling construction activities to ensure alignment with the design and specifications. Ensure cost estimates are prepared and monitored for all construction activities. Review and execute the construction package plan, including contractor plans, methods, staffing, and schedules. Prepare the site for construction mobilization. Produce monthly reports and lead regular construction meetings. Provide input on the Construction Management Execution Plan and oversee its implementation. Oversee site contractor activities, including administration, logistics, safety, and training programs. Collaborate with on-site teams to ensure seamless operations across exploration, camp, project, environmental, and health and safety functions. Offer guidance and leadership to the project team, fostering strong working relationships with all stakeholders. Perform other related duties as required. Skills, Knowledge and Expertise 15–20 years of experience in mine construction or a similar industry, with a thorough knowledge of construction practices and Project safety standards. Proven record in managing large construction Projects valued at more than $100–$500 million. Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to facilitate commitment to a cooperative team effort. Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present ideas clearly and with credibility. A highly collaborative, credible, and communicative style that fosters the development of strong relationships and trust at all levels of the organization. A practical, hands‑on manager. Innovative thinking with the ability to work in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines. Proficient computer skills, with strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Teams, Visio) and the ability to learn new software. Location This position will be based at the Rook I site on a 2 week in/ 2 week out schedule. NexGen’s Rook I Project Site is located approximately 155km north of La Loche, Saskatchewan.
