Base Pay Range $151,000 – $200,000 per year About the Role Hi I’m Abhik, Ashby’s Co‑Founder and VP of Engineering. We’re looking for a versatile, persistent product engineer who’s not afraid to set up reusable building blocks across the stack and advocate for the time and space to do so. At Ashby, all our engineers ship features end‑to‑end at a high pace. We’ll give you the room to do your best work and you’ll be our guide We serve notable customers such as Notion, Linear, Shopify, and Snowflake, and we have tens of millions in ARR, growing >100% year over year with very low churn and a strong runway. We’re expanding our team and building products beyond Talent Acquisition, with the goal of continuing to grow and scale our platform. What We’re Building Designed and built automated interview scheduling, solving the “Calendar Tetris” problem by calculating possible times and presenting them to candidates via our responsive web app. Built a generalized declarative filter architecture that allows users to create complex filters for any record with a consistent UI and compiles to SQL on the backend. Specced, designed, and implemented a feature that allows users to complete signing offers entirely within Ashby, involving customer discovery, prototyping, and integration with other features. You prefer highly structured environments with strict process and formal project management tools. You only want to work on isolated, small tasks without ownership over the entire feature life cycle. You lack prior experience leading or owning projects and are used to following tech leads and task lists. You expect to mentor a large number of early‑career engineers, as most senior roles here focus on ownership rather than mentorship. Interview Process Our interview process helps you showcase your best self through a mix of practical and design questions, with no leetcode or whiteboard exercises. Introduction call with Hiring Manager (15–30 min, live). Technical screen: pair‑programming in our codebase (1 hour, live). Three non‑coding interviews focused on product thinking, technical design, and infrastructure (3 hours total, can be split across days). Your First Three Months You’ll dive into a single script on day one and ship product changes that increase scope and ambiguity, moving from small copy changes to impactful features. Your manager will conduct 30‑, 60‑, and 90‑day reviews for feedback and alignment. You’ll pair with a peer for support and attend training sessions on our culture, product, engineering process, and technical architecture.
