Agilus is recruiting for a Pipeline Simulations Manager in the Midstream Oil and Gas Industry in Edmonton, Alberta.


As the Manager of Simulations, you'll supervise and manage the activities of personnel working on pipeline leak detection and monitoring systems. You will oversee new system development, as well as the daily monitoring and maintenance of existing systems.


A typical day:

  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate new technologies and improve existing systems.
  • Manage the pipeline simulation team, including delegating work responsibilities and completing reporting.
  • Provide on going employee development in the form of coaching, performance management, coordination with 3rd party vendors and negotiating contracts.
  • Provide training and support to team members to enhance their skills and knowledge, while overseeing the development and maintenance of pipeline leak detection, trainer/simulator, and batch tracking systems to ensure their effectiveness and reliability.
  • Review daily monitoring of the systems and maintenance of existing systems to ensure effectiveness and reliability.
  • Manage the departments budget for capital projects and areas of responsibility.
  • Ensure all systems comply with relevant regulatory standards and requirements, including managing regulatory compliance for the area of responsibility.
  • Maintain compliance with company protocols.


Successful candidates will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computing Science, Engineering or related discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in the petroleum industry with 5+ years of supervisory/managerial experience.
  • Previous experience developing and supporting leak detection systems or similar real time computer systems on liquid petroleum systems.
  • Excellent leadership skills, well versed in conflict resolution.
  • Experience leading CPM system projects.
  • Knowledge of pipeline leak detection, hydraulics, and operations.
  • Able to provide technical training to non-technical employees.
  • Experience working with real-time software.
