Master Planner At VIA Rail, we are shaping the future of passenger rail transportation in Canada. Our Long‑Distance, Regional, and Remote (LDRR) routes connect cities, Indigenous communities, and showcase iconic landscapes aboard the Canadian, the Ocean, and the Hudson Bay trains. To modernize this fleet and build a sustainable network, we are launching an ambitious renewal program. Primarily based in Montreal, our team is leading a strategic program that spans nationwide. As a Master Planner, you will play a role in ensuring the smooth coordination of activities within a complex program, aligning stakeholders and suppliers with our strategic objectives and timelines. Responsibilities Program Planning: In collaboration with the Program Manager, coordinate the integration of project plans into a comprehensive and structured master plan. Review and Optimization: Facilitate sessions with stakeholders to review the master plan, apply best practices, and ensure consistency of the critical path. Capacity Management: Support teams in implementing demand and capacity management using CPMO standards and the EPM solution (Project Online). Monitoring and Control: Maintain the master plan, including schedules for internal resources and external suppliers, track progress, anticipate obstacles and delays, and recommend corrective actions. Quality and Continuous Improvement: Monitor the quality of plans, collaborate with project managers and controllers to improve planning standards, and contribute to process development. Resource Management: Establish the overall resource plan, identify capacity gaps, and propose adjustments. Technical Leadership: Serve as the reference point for planning and capacity management for the LDRR program. Participate in Monte Carlo analysis. Requirements 5 to 8 years of experience in major project management or planning. Strong expertise in strategic planning and integrated capacity management. PMP certification (an asset). Skills Excellent oral and written communication skills in French and English. Autonomy and ability to manage several projects simultaneously. Expertise in MS Project, EPM, and Excel (complex scenario modeling). Ability to simplify complex issues for decision‑makers and executives. Leadership, organizational skills, and ability to lead teams. Strategic vision and ability to set clear priorities.
