Mainframe DB2/MQ System Administrator

Essential Job Functions Maintain the DB2 subsystem procs and JCL Execute backups of the DB2 system catalog and directory files with reorgs Perform basic change management functions: ticketing, opening and closing changes, etc. Conduct Data Security audits (collect evidence of compliance, correct non‑compliances found in an audit) Install and upgrade DB2 subsystems Apply preventive/corrective maintenance PTFs and HIPER PTFs on test and production system software libraries Enforce DB2 security and audit conformance; perform disaster‑recovery drill exercises Understand basic parameters contained in DSNZPARM and their usage Perform regular system tuning and review memory/resource consumption based on daily performance reporting and online monitoring Interface with Change Support and vendor software support to resolve system software problems or issues Work with Automation to provide automated responses to system situations requiring intervention; tune and manage DB2 buffer‑pool settings Develop complex DB2 configurations needed for SYSPLEX environments and Data Sharing environments Lead complex projects, including client‑driven projects and internal upgrade projects, and deliver the defined deliverables MQ Skills & Responsibilities Maintain the MQSeries subsystem procs and JCL Backup MQSeries system components Perform basic change management functions: ticketing, opening and closing changes, etc. Conduct Data Security audits (collect evidence of compliance, correct non‑compliances found in an audit) Create, install, and upgrade MQSeries subsystems and related subproducts Define and configure MQ pagesets, point the storage class to the pageset, transfer storage class name to the MQ Admin account, allocate channels, define buffer pools, and control security rules for processes Apply preventive/corrective maintenance PTFs and HIPER PTFs on test and production system software libraries Enforce MQSeries security and audit conformance Install network connectivity on the mainframe side Set up disaster‑recovery configurations for pagesets, logs, bootstrap datasets, and related MQSeries and subproduct system software components Perform disaster‑recovery drill exercises Support MQSeries distributed queue management Work Environment This position combines remote work with in‑office days at our Toronto location. 24 × 7 on‑call support – rotation.
