The Opportunity: This is an exciting opportunity to be a technology manager with the Investment and Fund Finance Technology Development team at Onex as the Director, Information Technology. Reporting to the Vice President – Technology, head of application development. What you will do: Informally lead a team of engineers in building scalable solutions to serve business needs. Build cloud native applications using approved frameworks in Python and Java. Adhere to firm’s development practices. Research emerging technologies and stay abreast of technology trends in the industry. Create POCs and get business buy in. Help the firm build value for its shareholders/investors. Deploy technology solutions to facilitate straight through processing; resulting in lower operation costs. Contribute to the firm’s strategic technology roadmap by representing the alignment of technology to the strategic needs of the firm’s portfolio Oversee the status of projects in process; manage team resources and assignments, ensure delivery meets schedule and quality standards Review new and existing program/project architecture for compliance with IT standards, policies and architectural plans. Establish strong working relationships across business units and platforms to build influence and impact with key business partners. Collaborate with groups to define and achieve deliverables and ensure initiatives are meeting both our architecture and business outcomes. What you bring: Education - University Degree, BSc degree in Computer Science or related discipline. Minimum of 10 years of experience implementing complex, integrated solutions Experience in leading initiatives through the full software development process – from conception to completion – with demonstrable ability to assume a leadership role in coordinating activities, scheduling, and project control Strong understanding of current development processes, standards, and tooling is required. This includes analysis and design techniques and tools, development and testing approaches and methods. Strong understanding of Agile Principles and demonstrated ability to apply it on daily basis. Technical fluency; comfort discussing or diving deep on technology concepts, schedule trade-offs and new opportunities with technical team members Exceptional analytical skills to understand complex technical problems and provide technical solutions, identify root causes of and resolve technical issues. Strong background in data and database fundamentals including data architecture, conceptual/logical data modeling, physical database models; a solid understanding of database and data integration and replication design patterns. Solid exposure to Microsoft technology stack - Microsoft SQL Server, Azure Data technologies, Python, Jave, .Net, C# and other Microsoft technologies. Fluency with modern DevOps concepts and practices – Git, CI/CD pipelines, separation of duties, secure coding, change management etc. Deadline-driven and results-oriented; able to consistently meet high quality standards while handling a variety of tasks and deadlines simultaneously. Strong business acumen and work ethic with the desire, ability, and curiosity to think strategically to navigate competing issues and improve current processes. Coaching, mentoring of the offshore development team members. A reputation as a solid, dynamic leader – team members want to work with you and for you. Experience working in Financial Services, particularly in the Alternative and Asset Management industry, is required.
