PURPOSE STATEMENT:

The Regulatory Affairs Manager role is responsible for developing and enforcing compliance of products to North American food regulations. This position is responsible to providing regulatory leadership to educate stakeholders of the regulatory landscape, ensuring products compile with requirements and develop systems to ensure proper documentation.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Reviews formulations, raw materials and labels to ensure compliance with North American food regulations and customer requirements.
  • Maintains nutritional software for accuracy.
  • Improves and executes regulatory processes, working with cross functional team members to be effective and efficient.
  • Provide technical support to educated cross functionals regarding the regulatory requirements and updates the team regarding changes to regulations or new customer requirements.
  • Creates, reviews and approves nutritional panels, ingredient declarations and allergen statements for new products, and ensures the accuracy of all label information when formulas are updated, or regulations are amended.
  • Ensure changes are reflected in all systems and coordinated with packaging updates.
  • Maintains regulatory documentation, including ingredient specifications, allergen documentation, BE/non-GMO statements and RSPO.
  • Maintain product specifications, for internal purposes and within customer portals.
  • Reviews and edits artwork drafts from printers for both primary and secondary packaging.
  • Recommends, to Marketing and Product Development, nutritional claims that can be made about new or existing products.
  • Participates in continuous professional development to keep abreast of changes to product labelling regulations enforced in the countries where our products are sold.


TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE:

  • 5 years experience in a regulatory affairs capacity.
  • Minimum 5 – years’ experience food in Food and Beverage Industry
  • Strong technical background in product labelling regulations for U.S. and Canada.
  • Thorough knowledge of the use of Genesis software for the creation of nutritional panels and ingredient declarations.


EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science from a recognized university.
  • Supplementary training in product labelling, nutritional panels and claims, and allergen programs in Canada and U.S


OTHER SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • A self-starter and able to work in a team environment.
  • Good problem-solving and collaboration skills.
  • Strong verbal & written communication skills with the ability to influence others.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Competent computer skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Time management: Efficient organization and prioritization of jobs to meet deadlines.
