We are currently seeking two NPs to join our dynamic Orthopaedic Surgery team, delivering comprehensive care to patients with complex medical needs across the continuum of elective and non‑elective orthopedic surgical care. Practicing within a collaborative, team‑based model, the NP works closely with orthopaedic surgeons who remain the Most Responsible Provider (MRP) for surgical care and interprofessional colleagues to deliver seamless, patient-centered care from admission through to discharge or transfer. The NP plays a key role in assessing, diagnosing, treating, and managing patients across the continuum of elective and non‑elective orthopaedic care. Responsibilities include participating in daily rounds, coordinating discharge planning and transitions of care, consulting with medical subspecialties, and supporting community reintegration. The NP also contributes to quality improvement, education, and research initiatives while ensuring accurate documentation using Fraser Health’s Meditech Expanse system. RCH, located in New Westminster, BC, is one of Fraser Health’s three regional hospitals and a leading tertiary care center. Eligibility based on employment status. Detailed Overview The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients. The NP initiates treatment, prescribes medications, and practices autonomously within an interdisciplinary team. The position collaborates with patients, families, and health professionals to identify and assess trends, develop population‑based strategies, and participate in policy‑making activities. The NP participates in peer review and self‑review to evaluate services at the patient and community level. Responsibilities Diagnoses and treats patients for undifferentiated diseases within scope of practice. Monitors ongoing care, orders diagnostic investigations, interprets reports. Establishes priorities for management, communicates with patients and families. Collaborates and consults with physicians and other providers; admits and discharges patients. Prescribes drugs within statutory limits and employer policies. Assigns work to other staff; evaluates and provides education and supervision. Participates in research and contributes to patient care advances. Maintains population health focus with screening and health promotion activities. Participates in interdisciplinary education and fosters health care partnerships. Develops and evaluates policies and procedures related to nursing and health system practices. Performs other duties as required. Qualifications Education and Experience Current practicing registration as a Nurse Practitioner with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) and recent relevant clinical nursing experience.
