Intermediate Contaminated Sites Consultant

Overview Sage Environmental is seeking an intermediate environmental consultant who is ready to build a long‑term career in contaminated sites assessment, land remediation, and construction environmental management. This position offers a balanced mix of technical work, field leadership, and client interaction, along with the flexibility and lifestyle benefits of working with a small, collaborative team. The role typically involves a mix of office and field work that varies with project load and season. You will work on a variety of project types within the Southern Interior of BC including the Okanagan, Similkameen, Shuswap, Thompson, and West Kootenay regions. Over time there is opportunity to take on increased project management responsibility and help shape the growth of our contaminated sites practice in the Southern Interior. Key Responsibilities Contaminated Sites and Remediation Primary Lead and support Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, Detailed Site Investigations, and related field programs Demonstrate confidence and skill in collecting and interpreting soil, groundwater, surface water, and soil vapour samples Prepare clear, defensible technical reports and regulatory submissions Collaboration is key so you will participate in remediation planning and provide on‑site support during remediation activities Construction Environmental Management Secondary Conduct environmental monitoring and support the implementation of requirements such as CEMP and ESC Complete environmental compliance documentation and communicate findings with contractors and project managers Coordination and participation in site activities related to environmental protection, wildlife and fish salvage, and sensitive area considerations Support excavation, utilities installation, land development, and infrastructure projects with practical on‑site decision making General Responsibilities Assist with project planning, scheduling, and client communication Travel for field programs in remote or active construction environments Maintain strong safety, quality assurance, and data management standards Required Qualifications Diploma or BSc in Environmental Science, Environmental Technology, Reclamation and Remediation, or a related discipline A minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental consulting with a focus on contaminated sites and strong field experience Thorough working knowledge of the BC Contaminated Sites Regulation and relevant legislation Registration or eligibility for registration with BCIA, ASTTBC, CAB, or another appropriate regulator Experience with construction environmental monitoring, CEMP, ESC inspections, or similar work Strong technical writing and communication skills Valid driver’s license Ability to work safely and effectively in construction and remediation environments Asset Qualifications Experience working with infrastructure and construction contractors Experience working safely around construction equipment such as drilling rigs, and excavators Environmental monitoring experience, training and, or certification Compensation and Benefits Full Time Salary: 69000 to 82000 per year Benefits include: Employer RRSP contributions MSP coverage and extended health benefits Paid professional dues Support for professional development and training Flexible hybrid work arrangements All required field and office equipment provided Quarterly performance bonus About Us Sage Environmental provides contaminated sites and land remediation services, construction environmental management and monitoring, habitat assessment, and ecological restoration services across the Southern Interior of British Columbia.
