Intermediate Contaminated Sites Consultant

OverviewSage Environmental is seeking an intermediate environmental consultant who is ready to build a long‑term career in contaminated sites assessment, land remediation, and construction environmental management. This position offers a balanced mix of technical work, field leadership, and client interaction, along with the flexibility and lifestyle benefits of working with a small, collaborative team. The role typically involves a mix of office and field work that varies with project load and season.You will work on a variety of project types within the Southern Interior of BC including the Okanagan, Similkameen, Shuswap, Thompson, and West Kootenay regions. Over time there is opportunity to take on increased project management responsibility and help shape the growth of our contaminated sites practice in the Southern Interior.Key ResponsibilitiesContaminated Sites and Remediation PrimaryLead and support Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, Detailed Site Investigations, and related field programsDemonstrate confidence and skill in collecting and interpreting soil, groundwater, surface water, and soil vapour samplesPrepare clear, defensible technical reports and regulatory submissionsCollaboration is key so you will participate in remediation planning and provide on‑site support during remediation activitiesConstruction Environmental Management SecondaryConduct environmental monitoring and support the implementation of requirements such as CEMP and ESCComplete environmental compliance documentation and communicate findings with contractors and project managersCoordination and participation in site activities related to environmental protection, wildlife and fish salvage, and sensitive area considerationsSupport excavation, utilities installation, land development, and infrastructure projects with practical on‑site decision makingGeneral ResponsibilitiesAssist with project planning, scheduling, and client communicationTravel for field programs in remote or active construction environmentsMaintain strong safety, quality assurance, and data management standardsRequired QualificationsDiploma or BSc in Environmental Science, Environmental Technology, Reclamation and Remediation, or a related disciplineA minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental consulting with a focus on contaminated sites and strong field experienceThorough working knowledge of the BC Contaminated Sites Regulation and relevant legislationRegistration or eligibility for registration with BCIA, ASTTBC, CAB, or another appropriate regulatorExperience with construction environmental monitoring, CEMP, ESC inspections, or similar workStrong technical writing and communication skillsValid driver’s licenseAbility to work safely and effectively in construction and remediation environmentsAsset QualificationsExperience working with infrastructure and construction contractorsExperience working safely around construction equipment such as drilling rigs, and excavatorsEnvironmental monitoring experience, training and, or certificationCompensation and BenefitsFull Time Salary: 69000 to 82000 per yearBenefits include:Employer RRSP contributionsMSP coverage and extended health benefitsPaid professional duesSupport for professional development and trainingFlexible hybrid work arrangementsAll required field and office equipment providedQuarterly performance bonusAbout UsSage Environmental provides contaminated sites and land remediation services, construction environmental management and monitoring, habitat assessment, and ecological restoration services across the Southern Interior of British Columbia.
